Samsung TV Plex code blank

Server Version#: 4.34.4
Player Version#: 2.013

So in the last 2 days both my Samsung 2011 era Smart TVs have stopped connecting to the Mac Laptop (2014 era) Plex server. When I put the TV ip address in the “allowed without auth” field on the plex app on my Mac, the TV asks for me to go to the plex link page and enter the 4 digit code, but the code fields are empty and it’s just waiting…

I have tried reinstall on both tv and laptop, with no success. Anyone have any ideas?

Actually Plex version on my laptop is 1.20.3.3437

I have a 2012 model which had exactly the same issue at the beginning of this month, and it is very easy to fix as already reported in some other posts:

In plex on the desktop, in Settings > Network, make sure ‘Secure connections’ is set to ‘preferred’ and not ‘required’ and enter the IP addresses of your TVs in ‘List of IP addresses and networks that are allowed without auth’.

In Plex on the TV, you want to make sure that in Preferences > System, ‘Use secure connections’ is off.
You also need to enter your PMS IP address (your desktop PC or whatever you’re using) in Plex Media Servers (see the manual if you’re not sure how to do that).

Then of course you should not select ‘sign in to your plex account’ since you will not be connected to that account anymore, but instead just connected locally to your server (so that is also the potential - makes no difference for the way I use Plex - downside).

and your point is?.. just relaying the plex teams’s ‘advice’ to ‘upgrade your plex experience’ when a perfectly acceptable (at least for the basic use of Plex) workaround exists is hardly helpful…
Unless it is just meant as an explanation of the cause of the issue?..

Meant as an explanation of the cause of the issue. Nothing more…

Strange but I did all that yesterday and it didn’t work, however today it has worked!

Thanks.

Thanks for the above I’ll give this a try. This maybe the solution I was looking for.

Cheers & virtual kiss !

I need assistance pls.
I have done exactly as whats described here except “You also nees to enter your PMS IP address…”. Can someone please give me a step-by-step instruction on how to do this and in where (PC or TV)?

Appreciate your help immensely.

Hi, if you are running the Plex media server from your PC, the IP address is your PC’s IP address. You can get it e.g. from windows’ ethernet settings. Then you have to enter it in Plex on the TV, in Preferences / Servers section (refer to the app manual for details).
