I have a Plex account issue

I have a Plex account issue.

I didn’t realize that I had a second Plex account. I must’ve set it up back in 2019 and decided not to use it. Unfortunately, I purchased a lifetime Plex pass for $119 before the price went up and somehow it got applied to my Gmail account and not my current Plex server account where all my files and folders are. It would be a nightmare to make the gmail plex server mimic my second, current plex server. I was keyed to this problem when I received a email telling me that my annual plex pass will be automatically renewed Aug 28th.

I received this statement from billing but am not sure how to do this. “You can easily move a server between accounts. If you need assistance with that, our Technical Support team can help in the forums.”

Can someone help me with this?

Thanks, Don

What they mean is, you can move your server and clients to use the Gmail account.
The clients should be fairly straightforward.

On the server, there’s different approaches of how to achieve this – depending on how comfortable you are messing with your Windows machine’s Registry.

  • From my personal perspective, the easiest way is to follow the Why am I locked out of server settings and how do I get in? support article – stop the server, delete the registry key/value pairs which establish that the server is claimed by that account, restart the server, open it using the bundled web app (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:32400/web if you’re on the same machine) and sign-in with your Gmail account when asked to claim the server (skip any other “server setup” steps… your server hasn’t changed except for the claiming).

  • go through manually signing the server out by either deleting it from the list of Authorized Devices OR clicking Sign Out in Settings > [Server Name] > General, change to the Gmail account and sign in on the same page – this sounds fairly straightforward but it can give you some trouble if you’re not signed into the right account (old/new) at the right time

Not really comfortable with doing that. I guess I’m just going to have to bite the bullet for the annual Plex Pass reb]newal.
