I have problems with PLEX set up

  1. Problems setting up live TV/DVR: Initial Live TV/DVR setup was easy and worked well. However, due to unrelated tech issues, I had to remove the server from my nvidia shield. Now that the server is set and running again (on my nvidia), I can’t set up live TV/DVR; plex has problems finding hdhomerun prime tuners. When I manually add the IP address, I get a message: “There is a problem adding the device”. Hdhomeun view works fine.

  2. When I try to stream some media files that worked before, I get a message “unable to play media”

I don’t know if these issues are related.

I see in your log where PMS is searching but it says your tuner isn’t responding with the appropriate response so it thinks it is an incompatible device. Can you provide me the entire log set? There is a more details tuner log that I would like to see.

No, that’s not what I wanted. Please use Plex Web, Settings \ Server \ Help \ Download logs.

I wonder what happened. That response you provided is what pms is expecting, but for some reason it wasn’t working when pms asked. Double check your network connections. Maybe your Shield is connection to something that isn’t working properly.

For your new issue, I’ll need to see the log for that error.

My pc and shield are connected via ethernet. I didn’t make any changes with my network lately.

Which logs do you need?

Just a few ideas. A firmware update on your router? A firmware update on the Shield? Maybe you need a firmware update on your HDHR?

Unfortunately my plex live TV is not working well, - distortions and error messages, stops playing. Also Hdhomerun view program doesn’t work as usual, a lots of distortions. As soon as I uninstalled plex live TV, distortions in hdhomerun viewer were gun.

So you got PMS to see your DVR again?

That is odd. We don’t interact with the HDHomeRun viewer program. You have the Prime, which has a built in transcoder. PMS does set how this works. I don’t know if this setting is within the Prime so the Viewer program ends up using the same setting. If you re-setup PMS DVR, maybe try playing with this setting. I’ve seen reports where the built-in transcoder doesn’t like certain TV signals. Turning it off would help if this is the case.
