I may be the only one, but I like it

I’m sure others have legitimate gripes but none from me. Not yet, anyway.

I should add that I was only speaking of the changes for mobile apps. Please don’t make any drastic changes to the server or desktop app as they work fine for admin stuff.

Chiming in to join the OP’s begging; please do not make these changes to the server or the desktop app as they are working splendidly.

Let’s all voice our support that for keeping this week’s twisted roll-out to the isolated number of platforms that have already been inflicted. We need to minimize the cancer spread early rather than letting it grow.

I’m with you, the new UI is awesome and for what I use it for it works. I don’t use live tv or any Plex content and my server is strictly for my own media. And for that it works perfectly so far regarding playback.

Have not experienced any issues that would cause me panic. And if I did I would just use Infuse lol.

My problem is not so much with the updates ui, but rather with broken functionality. The android app can no longer cast, at least not for me. None of the devices show up, whereas the old plex app and every other one has no issues. This functionality is one of the most important ones in the mobile app for me. I tried the new app in beta and I removed it because it was so broken that it was unusable. It saddens me that it was released before it was actually ready. I am a software developer myself, so I sympathize with the complexity of software development and I think I have a pretty good guess behind the reasoning of making this new app. But still, it’s predictable that such a massive change would upset users if the functionality that’s actually there does not even work correctly.

With HUGE users in the MILLIONS, there’s just no excusing their rollout. It’s a MASSIVE “switch” that the company did very little to prepare their userbase for. Every demographic, young and old has been inundated with the rollout that didn’t hit their device app store deployments until recently. There’s sure to be at least another month of unaware users who don’t know about the UI changes.

Regardless of the new app and whether or not it’s working for some and not others, this will be a massive change for those who had gotten use to the interface, especially when the old UI exists on the smart TV platforms and streaming top boxes still, but the new UI is on the mobile. It does not matter how you try to explain it; this will be an undertaking for some people and that can include a few million or so who do let the upgrades occur.

More importantly, finding out that features that were once there in the old app, are now suddenly gone or placed somewhere else in the new one.

Not sure I agree. I actually feel that the UI is more of a problem than the bugs. Well the bugs are very bad too and prevents me from using much of the app, but at least it’s reasonable to assume that they will be fixed. The UI though - I feel we might be stuck with this and honestly, I really wanted to like it. I really did but I don’t think it feels fun to use. It doesn’t feel modern. Or slick. Or really fresh in any way. It feels both safe and clumsy at the same time.

The bugs are understandable to some extent but the design speaks much more of lack of talent to me, and that is very worrying.

I think for users where media only means “Movies and TV”, the new UI is probably ‘ok-ish’ (still very buggy and many features missing). But, for those of us deep into Plex, more than half of our features are completely gone. I’d be more forgiving to those that are very angry as Plex fired the first shot in this case, and they didn’t miss. We are wounded.

Most of the new app looks like its ok. I do like to use the live tv dvr stuff none of that works on my phone anymore. Im not really sure they needed to update old version worked flawlessly for me.

if you don’t have any videos on your server then what are you casting to plex htpc?

it doesn’t transcode and not everyone wants to spend money on more apps just to restore functionality the app used to have before blank removed it

Yes, if you don’t need Plex features anymore, the new app is definitely for you.
