Ignoring text such as -scene and -short in tv show filename

Hello All,

Is there any way to force Plex to match TV Show filenames that contain text such as -scene and -short in them.

I name all of my TV shows as follows:
ShowName/Season.xx/ShowName.SxxEyy-EpisodeName.mkv
For example: Chicago.Fire/Season.04/Chicago.Fire.S04E09-Short.and.Fat.mkv

In the above example, the episode is not matched and does not appear in the season. I believe this is due to the -Short in the filename. (I’ve come across others which contain -Scene as well)

When I find this issue, I simply rename the file to Chicago.Fire.S04E09-**’**Short.and.Fat.mkv which I am OK with, but was just wondering if I can avoid having to do this since I automate renaming, encrypting and uploading to my amazon cloud drive.

I have already disabled the Local Media Assets scraper as well as the “Find trailers and extras automatically” in TheTVDB Settings.

Thanks in advance

I’d try first to bring my file and folder names into compliance.
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220687-Naming-Series-Season-Based-TV-Shows

  • Don’t replace space characters with dots or other characters
  • the separation between ‘show title’ and ‘season/episode’ code is supposed to be space-hyphen-space
  • the same applies to the separation between season/episode code and the ‘optional info’

Chicago Fire/Season 04/Chicago Fire - S04E09 - Short and Fat.mkv

Thank you. Since I was running Plex on linux, I chose not to have spaces in my filenames. However, I will update my file names to conform to the exact compliance in the article you pointed me to.

Thanks Again
