Reddit, I need help. I’ve tried basically everything feasible here, and I’m out of ideas.
Plex server: DS418play, RAM expanded to 6GB, currently set up with 3 14TB Seagate Ironwolfs in an SHR RAID.
Upgraded from a Firestick to a Shield Pro and started streaming. Shield is connected via wifi.
While streaming on the Shield, the stream will occasionally just skip forward anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes. No rhyme or reason to the pattern, it just skips. Sometimes as much as 10-15 minutes in whatever I’m trying to watch. It’s happened to movies and to TV shows, to things added recently, and to things I’ve had on the server for months.
I thought it might be a spotty wifi signal, so I set up a second access point in the room directly above where the Shield sits, and the issue hasn’t abated at all. The signal is strong.
Connecting via ethernet is not an option, as the router/modem sits on a different floor from the Shield.
Is there something I’m missing in the settings somewhere? Could this be a defect on the Shield itself? Is this a known issue?
No one else who has access to my server has reported any issues, and I run into no problems streaming on other devices. JUST on the Shield.
It just took me 45 minutes to watch an episode of Scrubs because the playback kept skipping forward, and when I tried to scrub back it would take anywhere from a minute to three minutes to load the previous point in the playback. I also pulled these logs immediately after this happened during an episode of 30 Rock. Any guidance or ideas at all would be appreciated.
