In this digital age of software that requires internet connectivity…
I’m cutting the Plex cord. I have now setup Emby and it requires no internet connection.
I have paid for the lifetime plex pass and I’m giving it up.
Bye Plex, wish you didn’t require a login and internet to function…

Yes there are caveats for Plex authorisation in a internet outage.
My recent experience of two days no internet, I tried Tethering to my Mobile phone using a hotspot.
This worked a treat and had an active Plex account as i liked it. Happy Plexing…
Thanks for drawing up this guide to include various helpful resources. I read through it and it was very informative, and even highlights the flaws built into the plex authentication process for local only access when needed.
It’s unfortunate Plex users have to jump through so many “workaround” hoops to keep access to their personal media during Internet outages; many due to blackouts that can last for extended periods of time; like days, or weeks for more extreme circumstances.
This is why I use Infuse on my AppleTV (+ other devices) to access my media where Plex fails.
Plex developers need to fix this issue. Authenticating directly with the local Plex server should always be an option when Internet-based resources are not being utilized. A local SAM database should be more than sufficient.
