Image distorted when selecting subtitles

Server Version#: 1.18.3.2156
Player Version#: Web: Version 4.12.3, Xbox ONE: 2.45.1.70 (other versions I can check later, but I don’t think it “matters much”)

This issue is with All non Windows PC players, with the Windows player it works fine. It now has been occurring since a few months, but didn’t need the subtitles much until now.

  • Playing a movie / TV series or anything with subtitles not embedded will give a distorted image Please see the screenshot
  • Playing the same with the subtitles disabled, it will play normally without any issue.
  • On PC playing with subtitles does work, and will show correctly.

I tried the steps from the link below (delete the file on the synology):

See screenshot below on what I see with the subtitles enabled.

Did you restart PMS after deleting the driver?

I’m running 1.18.4.2171 on a DS918+ and transcoding works with the driver deleted.

Maybe try the following:

  1. Via the Package Center, stop and remove PMS.
  2. Download the latest version from https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server.
  3. Install, but do not start, latest version via Package Center.
  4. Delete the offending driver (instructions).
  5. Via the Package Center, start PMS.

I figured out what it was, trying others made it work, but I had a “optimised version” with the old driver most likeley and thus it kept like that.

After deleting the optimised version of that specific show it also worked there (the others in the end seemed to work. Thanks!
