All films from former Yugoslavia (1918-1992, especially films of Yugoslav Black Wave 1960s-70s) that I’ve added so far are labeled as from Serbia. Please fix!
Even if the films are from the region that is now Serbia, it is still good to have them labeled as from Yugoslavia if they came out before the country broke apart.
Similarly there is no label for West Germany or East Germany; just Germany, even if the film came out in the 60s, 70s, or 80s. Both labels could be useful here (e.g. tagged as from “West Germany” and “Germany”).
Films from the former USSR are labeled as from “Russian Federation”, which is unfair. Even films like Come and See, which is from Belarus.
Finally, a suggestion to change all films from that come from “Islamic Republic of Iran” to simply be labeled as from “Iran”.
I’ve been spending some time testing this on my own server using the Plex Movie. It appears to me that all countries are named in Plex as you expect them to do:
Come and See (1985) → Soviet Union
some YU black wave movies → Yugoslavia
some Iranian movies → Iran (not Islamic Republic of Iran)
some Eastern German movies → East Germany
The only exception seem to be that West German movies are listed as German
I don’t know to be honest, I’m still new to this. I use the default agent provided and haven’t changed anything from vanilla. TMDB perhaps? Or Plex Movie (Legacy) if that’s a info agent?
All my examples were tested with the Plex Movie agent… could you share the specific titles that got mixed up in your setup?
Also… what language have you set for this library?
Do your files have any related (conflicting) embedded metadata?
