Increase Split Stack Please

I know I may be one of the few, but I have a TV show that has 10 parts to it. Are there any plans to increase the the number of stacked TV shows?

Typically we call those ‘Episodes’ and you can have as many of those as you want.

Got one giant file with 40 episodes within?

Put it in a Movie Library, Fix Match, Search Options, Personal Media, hand edit as required, so you’ll have Continue Watching.

… and stop doing that already… rip 'em out one at a time…lol

10 parts to make up a single episode here. Each episode has 2-4 parts to it, except the first episode which has 10 parts.

Is that a Lecture Series or something?

Continue Watching will also work for a Giant Episode.
You’ll just have to edit the description a bit (to a lot) to include the times, but it can be done as a work-around in the hopes the stack number increases (and it probably won’t any time soon).

Not a Lecture. Just a rip from a disc.

Regardless…

If you have more than 10, you’ll need to employ a work-around.

Plex really wants those ‘Episodes’ off that disc one at a time.
That’s how Plex works.

Right I get what you’re saying, however, Plex does offer support for splits/stack, this is just simply a request to increase that limit.

Episodes Split Across Multiple Files

Episodes that are split into several files (e.g. pt1, pt2), can be played back as a single file if named correctly. Name the files as follows:

  • /TV Shows/ShowName/Season 02/ShowName – s02e17 – Split_Name.ext

Where Split_Name is one of the following:

  • cdX
  • discX
  • diskX
  • dvdX
  • partX
  • ptX

…and you replace X with the appropriate number (cd1, cd2, etc.).

Notes :

  • Not all Plex apps support playback of stacked media
  • All parts must be of the same file format (e.g. all MP4 or all MKV)
  • All parts should have identical audio and subtitle streams in the same order
  • Only stacks up to 8 parts are supported

Have you considered joining those parts into a single file? It’s a fairly straight-forward process using MKVToolNixGUI:

The guide specifically describes using it to join multi-part movies, but the same process applies to TV shows as well.

You can keep your originals squirreled away somewhere and just use the combined whole as the media for your library.

I understand what your original request was, but this may be a better solution in the short-term to have the media correctly added to your library.
