Split is missing

hi,

me and a friend recently have the problem that we can no longer split series that are stacked.
i thought that this would be fixed with an update, but apparently this is not the case.

is this a general problem at the moment or has the feature simply been removed?

if it is helpful:
app version windows: 1.75.0.3920-8b50876d
web version (truenas → plex tv): 4.108.0
web version (directly over plex.tv): 4.112.0
server version (truenas/truecharts): 1.32.5.7349
server version (windows): 1.32.5.7349? (not sure, friend was not available at that time. at least he said it is the last one. but the problem was also before this version)

greetings

Splitting series is only possible at their highest level.
And only if there are actually 2 separate folders.

is it not possible to split individual parts of an episode so that the parts can be displayed and played correctly?

You can’t split episodes.

so there is no solution to the part problem?

so I have to rename E01 part 2 to e.g. E02 because E01 part 1 already occupies E01?

Maybe start by explaining in more detail what you want to achieve.

I have a series that has one episode split into 3 parts (absoluty no idea why they still do that on BluRay these days)

I have named the episode accordingly:
S01E01 Part 1
S01E01 Part 2
S01E01 Part 3

Now when I try to stream this via Plex, only one part of it is shown to me and the other two parts are not available.
But I would like to be able to stream all parts of it on plex. so I would like to split that.
Best without renaming the parts to episodes like:
S01E01 Part 1 → S01E01
S01E01 Part 2 → S01E02
S01E01 Part 3 → S01E03

If you end a file name with -partx, then Plex will take all parts and combine them into one episode. Documented here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/
If you play episode 1, you should actually get to see all 3 files in succession.
Try it.

While this is in theory a good solution, in practical use there are some weird side effects associated with this approach, which also vary by Plex client type.
It is my personal recommendation that you, immediately after ripping, combine all three parts into one file. See [HowTo]: joining multi-part movies files with MKVtoolnix GUI
You should do this before doing any other operations, like converting video or audio, or OCR’ing subtitles.

Did not know that MKVtoolnix can do that.

Then thanks for the help and patience.

PS: you could have said that you are German :D. i think then i would have had it a little easier. however, i also don’t know if german or other languages are allowed here.
