You can’t at the moment, use the TV/AV Receiver volume control.

Have pi plugged directly into 2.1 creative speakers. Hope this will be added in future releases , changing guisettings.xml worked on openelec+plex home theater on the NUC.

Speakers are on max too , just fyi.

Check your settings in guisettings.xml for ‘fvolumelevel’ in the section, should be:

 <fvolumelevel>1.000000</fvolumelevel>

Some people have found that this is currently set at 0.100000!

You can increase this and it will stick on reboot.

This was at 0.5xxxxx , What does the fvolumelevel do ? Would increasing it over 1 make a difference in overall volume ?

Just sets the default level, don’t go too much over 1.000000 or you may get distortion. Did changing it help?

Regards

Not much , i guess its my media that has really low volume that i need volume amp set permanently . Had it at 50 on previous NUC. Anyways i hope gui settings will be editable permanently in upcoming releases if possible . Thanks for the help. Looking forward to pmp on raspberry pi

Also fvolume doesnt seem to be sticking on reboot. Changed to a new value 0.733333 from 0.5xxxxxx

Okay weird , tried again now the vol amp sticks during reboots but fvolume still stuck on .7333

The value ‘fvolumelevel’ should be persistent between sessions, and should also obey the keyboard commands “+” and “-”, though with an upper limit of 0.0 dB, represented by the value “1.000000” in “guisettings.xml”. So when you reboot a new RasPlex session this volume value should be back to whatever you left it as in shutting down the previous session. The exception would be if you terminate the program by other means than a proper shutdown/restart command, as this can prevent the file from being updated.

That’s how it works for me anyway, though I’ve seen some other reports too of problems with this functionality. But so far I’ve not been able to replicate such problems myself.

Will try a few more tests , sound while moving through options are some what distorted , fvolume still fluctuates

Volamplification is sticking at +50 even after reboot initiated by using reboot/shutdown in menu , though it might not have as much vol increase at it did on NUC . Might be just an error , but slight improvement if not placebo

Would turning on PI by pulling out power and putting it back in have any effect on guisettings ?

If you always use the “Shut Down” command before disconnecting RPi power then there should be no ill effects. All setting changes made in such a session should persist for the next session.

But if you disconnect the RPi while running RasPlex and without first giving the “Shut Down” command in the main menu’s side menu, then you can expect failure of any setting changes in that session to “bite” as well as random corruption of any and all SD card content. Such corruption may in itself explain any number of issues, and to cure them it may be necessary to reflash the SD card and start over ‘from scratch’.
