Infinte loading for some local movies, but only on TV

Server Version#: 1.32.5.7431
Player Version#: 9.1.1(33.2.0.157)

Hello everyone,

I have been having this issue for quite some time now and only for a few movies, but it’s quite annoying.
In my movie library, there are 5 of 6 movies that Plex doesn’t seem to be able to load on the Nvidia Shield Pro (2017) on my tv (a Sony, not Smart).
No error message, just an infinite loading.
It doesn’t occur with tv series, only with movies. Also, if I try watching the same movies from my laptop or PC, I can watch them without problems, hence the issue is only on the tv.
I noticed they are all HEVC, but I can watch other HEVC movies with no issues.
I already tried locating the Codecs folder in the internal storage of the Shield, but couldn’t find it (I could only find a cache folder).
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!

Sounds like it could be that Plex is transcoding those videos in particular for some reason.
There is a hardware transcoding bug where some clients play the transcode (web client, iOS) and some don’t.
Seems like most of the recent problem posts with Shield as a server are related to this… https://forums.plex.tv/tag/server-nvidia-shield
Specifically: Shield tv don't hw transcode

Try turning off HW encoding in the transcode settings on the server’s web page.
Also, you can see if it’s decoding and encoding on the dashboard web page or serving the original…

Just audio in SW…

Video decode in HW encode in SW…

Video decode and encode in HW…

This last one works in the web player, but not in Android apps.

Thank you so much, turning off HW encoding in the transcode settings worked.
I hope Plex will solve this issue, but for now, big thanks for the tip!

EDIT: the solution worked for the videos, but 2 movies still have an issue with the audio, which is doing some sort of a very annoying “hiccup” (and in any case, by checking the dashboard, they are still transcoding both video and audio). Audio tracks are all EAC3, including the ones that are working now. Any idea about how to solve this? Thanks!
