I have (2) Shield TVs, and (6) or so Amazon Fire products. I am having problems starting episodes that are unwatched or partially watched. When we start them, they play for a couple seconds, then “skip” to the end where, if there is another episode, the countdown to autoplay that episode begins and that starts fine. This seems sporadic, but often happens after not playing anything on that device for awhile. The next time it happens, I will check for app version number and any other details that may be required, just thought maybe this was something you were already aware of?
This is still happening. Exoplayer 2 support is shoddy. What was the need to “upgrade”. I’m still having this issue on Android (Shield and FireTV varieties)

You can shut your mouth if you want to go back to exoplayer V1. Most don’t understand how good the player is now because they never used it on launch day. I suffered through it for literally years before it got to the stage it is now.

Dude, really? Do not tell me to shut my mouth. This is a BETA FEEDBACK FORUM!
I’ve been a long time user of Plex, and suffered through issues as well. I’m not suggesting roll back to player 1, just that these things be tested thouroughly prior to release. This isn’t even a Beta thing b/c it was/is happening in public release. Also, the player issues you talk about weren’t solved when ExoPlayer 2 came about. It has only been implemented for a few months. As I said, I’m all for upgrading all facets, just once the basics are thouroughly tested. This is a major flaw and I’m pointing on the likely culprit

Wow
This is the Internet. I can tell you whatever I want lol. It’s called free speech. Deal with it.
If you want stability, go to the stable branch. Yes sometimes issue slip through to stable too. You can’t expect beta to be BETTER.
You’re right regarding the internet. People say things they certainly wouldn’t say standing in front of one another…in that vain, continue to be a dbag
The problem in this case is that it’s not just Beta. Also it’s frustrating when things like VR take precedent over basic functionality. Also when the issue persists over multiple stable releases

It is beta. You get bugs. Want stability? Stick to stable.
I just stated that it is NOT just beta. I can roll back out of beta and the same behavior exists and has existed through many updates.
This behavior is happening on the last dozen or so STABLE releases. Many others are reporting the same. I first reported it here and it was then brought to my attention that it was happening in stable release 6.14 - 6.16 (at least). So I posted in “regular” forum. There’s a lot of stable releases in between those release numbers…
From the stable releases:
Besides, the whole point of joining beta testing is to report issues with the software. I do so (along with others above), and I get this…

So getting back to the thread topic, do we have any progress on this? It seems to be occurring across multiple devices and has been reported in both the beta and stable releases for a number of updates. I don’t find it too annoying, since it always straightens out on the second try, but it would be nice to get this wrapped up, since it seems like a pretty simple regression that didn’t occur in the initial ExoPlayer V2 releases, IIRC.
