Installed plex media server on new server and now can not add libraries

The drive where plex was installed went bad so replace the drive and reinstalled the plex server with plexmediaserver-1.24.0.4930-ab6e1a058.x86_64.rpm. When I log in, I get the message “Not Authorized, you do not have access to this server”. I have two users on the web interface to the plex server: one is the admin and the other is a users. If I log in with the user, the server page will come up, and then I can go back to the admin user and log in without getting the "Access denied. Yet both logins (admin and user) do not have the management menu to add libraries. The server is installed on Centos Stream just like before. When I look at authorized devices, the server is not listed.

Can anyone help with this. I would like to get is going
Thanks

I see you just created a new server instance (Plex.tv sees it)

In your local Plex/web app.

  1. Sign out (upper right)
  2. Close browser
  3. Open browser
  4. Assuming your computer is on the same 192.168.51.x subnet …
  5. open an incognito window / tab in the browser
  6. Open URL http://192.168.51.5:32400/web
  7. Show me what you get — should be “Got It”

Thanks for responding. I have it fixed. I am not sure what actually fixed it, but after I entered into the forum my description, I logged out of everything. I then proceeded to make sure all the ports were open, then restarted the server. I then logged in using the IP address of the server rather than the url. This time (I have done this before) I received the configuration screen and was able to label my server and then add libraries. I was just about ready to rebuild the server and start over, but now I do not have to.
I want to thank you for responding so quickly. it is very much appreciated.

Bob

Good.

Default Plex security will never allow a FQDN to be used when claiming a server.

If you think about it, referencing the FQDN always responds with a WAN address which then makes this a “Unknown WAN address” trying to claim your server – which it will block.

You are absolutely. Even though I know what you are saying, this did not cross my mind because of not know the actually sequence of accepting a server. The sequence of events being available would be a great help in the troubleshooting of this kind of problem

Thanks, again

regards,
