Server Version#: 1.15.3.876
I have my plex server installed on a Synology 1019+ NAS. It has been working perfectly of the past 25 days. I have almost completed moving all my media into the correct folders. Today when I started the plex app in the Synology DSM program, it showed that there was a Server update available. I downloaded it and installed it per the instructions, and it appears to have updated properly (to version 1.15.3.876). But now when I attempt to move items into the plex folder, it prompts me to enter my network credentials to open the Plex folder. When I do enter my network username and password, it tells me that access is denied. I had moved some items into that same folder earlier today, prior to the update without a problem. It wasn’t until after the update, that access to that folder is denied. and yes, I’m using the correct username and password. I can access all the other folders except the Plex folder using that username and password. When I enter the wrong password on purpose, it tells me “Wrong Username or Password”. When I enter the correct password, it tells me “Access Denied”.

The Plex share is for PLEX USE ONLY - Never put media there. Putting media in there has the horrific side effect of putting Plex into infinite scanning mode. This is why I lock out permission to it with every update.

Put your media in any other shares you wish, like “Movies”
The media folders (ie. Movies, Music, TV Shows) are sub-folders within the Plex folder . I have been moving all my media into these media folders. The issue is that since the update I am denied access to any and all Plex folders.
To supplement, which I should have stated upfront,
I made the Plex share visible for a few reasons:
- To allow easy installation of user Plug-ins
- To allow easy access to the Log file in those cases
- To allow backups and restorations to be easily made of a Plex installation on Synology
- To facilitate ease in moving the Plex share from one volume to another.
OK, I understand I need to move the media from the media folders within the Plex folder to media folder on the volume. Now how do I access the folders to copy the media files over???
Try going to your control panel in windows Control Panel\User Accounts\Credential Manager and go to Windows Credentials and edit your password and save it then try again. You may have to log out of windows and back in for it to work.
