Last update does not allow me to access the files in the folders created. It gives an error that the file does not exist or the unit is not mounted.

Will need more details than what’s provided. What files are you trying to get to, where’s it located, how are you trying to access it, etc? Provide a screenshot if available.

Usually, if you experience problems after an update on a NAS its a permissions problem. Nothing you did, the update caused permissions to change. Check your entire path to assure the PLEX account has RW permissions throughout. Make sure PLEX libraries have the correct path as well.

Control Panel - Shared Folders.

For each share containing your media:

  1. Edit the share
  2. Permissions tab
  3. Give user Plex Read/Write or Read Only (whichever you prefer).

My security update somehow got released before the announcement did.

My security update (fix) puts PMS back into proper, normal, unprivileged, user mode on Synology. The old DSM 5.x bypass is no longer needed. This allows me to reduce its privilege level to “normal”.

It’s safer for the system and safer for your media.
