Integrated subtitles language wrong

Running the latest PLEX server and android app.

Subtitles are in arabic instead of english on the app. They are english on the web player and if I use Kodi.

Tried to load an external subtitle file with the same results.

Is this a settings or player issue? How to fix?

So far I’ve tried paying it on a browser, kodi, samsung tv, android phone and fire tv. Its only an issue with the native android apps (phone and fire tv).

As far as I can see, this video has one embedded subtitle stream with “Unknown” language.

What language is this embedded subtitle in? Try activating it in the Web app.

There is also one subtitle from OpenSubtitles.org in English
as well as one “sidecar” subtitle in English.
The language isn’t necessarily correct – it is just what the subtitle file has been labeled with.

It appears as if the subtitle from opensubtitles.org has been selected for display.

Could you go into the settings of the Android app and set
Burn in Subtitles = Always
Then play the video again. Has anything changed?

As a second test, please try putting the attached version of the opensubtiles.org subtitles to store beside the video file (unzip first)
Dr.Stone.S02E01.1080p.WEB.H264-URANiME.eng.ass.zip (10.7 KB)

Burn subtitles - shows in english for some episodes, arabic for others.
External sub - crashes the app

Please use only this one episode for testing.

Its in english for this episode.

Then I have no idea where the arabic subtitles are supposed to be coming from.

Did you convert the library to use the brand-new “tv show (beta)” agent?

Didnt really touch any settings. Strangely the arabic text lines up perfectly with their speech.

Also its only an issue on the native android apps.

Would it be possible for you to provide a sample file of the episode, together with the subtitle files?

Do you have a cloud drive I can drop it in?

Please upload it to GDrive or similar and send me the download link per PM.

Link sent via PM.

OK, this riddle is solved.
The embedded ASS subtitle is in fact Arabic,

So, the bug is that the external subtitle has been selected, but the Android app is playing the internal instead.
This is actually similar to what I have experienced recently.
I will forward this report to the developers.
