Intel Core Ultra 7 265K no HEVC transcode option exposed, but 4060TI does

Server Version#: Version 1.43.1.10561
Player Version#:

I know I’ve recently been able to use HEVC encoding with the Intel GPU (fresh server install in Feb 2026 that used the latest version available) But now, I no longer see the option available, and plex is forcing me to use the 4060TI if I want to encode HEVC.

I have cleared out the microsoft driver, and installed the correct driver from Intel, no change.

What am I missing? I would rather NOT use the 4060TI for plex, when the CPU is more than capable of providing what plex needs

Update - It’s probably important that I am using hyper-v. From what I’m reading it appears to cause problems for IGPU encoding. Is there any way to work around this? Removing hyper-v is not really an option if I can avoid it.

You are probably having the same issue others are experiencing.

I wish it were, but I think I’ve somehow wound up on a canary build, and hyper-v on a canary build breaks NVENC encoding using the IGPU.

Looks like I might need a fresh OS install to fix this one.

See if you can drop down from the beta build you referenced in your post to the latest stable release. Transcoding still works on that build.

I was having the same issue and I tried the latest stable version that @FDM80 suggested, 1.43.0.10492, and it worked on my end, thanks!

I’ve been looking into this for a while. As soon as I dropped back to that version, the HEVC transcoding option showed up again with Intel selected, so that pretty much confirms this is something introduced in the newer beta builds and not a problem with my setup. I am running an Intel Core i9 285K on Windows 11 with the latest CPU and graphics drivers, and this machine has no trouble handling more than 20 simultaneous transcodes, so performance is definitely not the issue.

I was really hoping one of the recent transcoding updates in 1.43.1.10561 would have taken care of it, especially with the Intel AV1 support changes, Battlemage support, and HEVC being enabled by default. On my system, the HEVC option still disappears whenever Intel is selected as the transcoding device, but it comes right back if I switch to my old GTX 1080Ti.

Well this is awesome! Downgrading to 1.43.0.10492 solved it!
Enable HEVC video Encoding (experimental) is back!

Thanks!
