I recently enabled hardware transcoding for my server using integrated GPU. When ever I force the android or windows player to tell the server to transcode the video, I experience burst of playback where it plays too fast and then it slows down to normal speed after a while. Anyone know what is causing this?

What CPU are you using?
i5-11600K
What is that CPU in? Is it a NAS? What OS? And what device are you playing it on? Can you get logs of what is going on from the server?
Yes it is in a unraid system,
what type of logs are you looking for? logs of the server or from plex ? if from plex which ones are looking for?
I’ve been doing a lot of direct play so hadn’t noticed. But was testing eia608 captions today which forced transcoding. I run windows 10 on an dell Intel server with quick sync. The playback was choppy on a firestick 4k like you’re flipping through a deck of drawings for animation. Same server sw version. Interestingly it’s fine on an older FireTV v2.
