Internet Explorer 11 will not be supported - upgrade to modern browser - What browser is appropriate for Plex?

Server Version#: Version 1.16.2.1297 
Player Version#: ?? (Where to find this info?)

I am new to Plex Plus and not a techie. I don’t even know how to find the player version.

When I open Plex on my computer, a window opens in Internet Explorer and I get a message:
Explorer 11 will not be supported in a future update. Please upgrade to a modern browser.

I am using WIndows 7, with Internet Explorer Version 11.0.9600.19398. It is configured to install new versions automatically.

What is a “modern” browser that will be appropriate for Plex? How do I get Plex to open in another browser?

This is the first of about a million questions I have. I am a little anxious that I will not have enough technical knowledge to make Plex Plus worthwhile. Is there a special forum for people with very minimal technical know-how?

Many thanks.

How about Chrome?
To get it to open in another browser, install a different browser and choose that to be the default browser on your system.

Or if you don’t want Chrome, you can use Firefox or the new Edge browser thst is now also supported for Windows 7

No worries. Just about every single web browser will ask if you would like this to be your default browser. Just say yes(and no to any other).

Even if you don’t want to change your default browser (or want to use a different browser as default) you can use Plex.
Just make a copy of the shortcut to the browser and edit it.

I use the shortcut to Chrome as an example:
Just edit the shortcut and append the path in the ‘target’ line with the URL of the web app.

‘local’ version:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/

‘hosted’ version:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" https://app.plex.tv

Plex Web → Status or Settings → Authorized Devices

Welcome! Ask away. If more info is needed you’ll be asked to provide it. If there is something you do not understand, just say so. People will explain. Everybody here was a newbie at some point.

FYI, if you’re going to be watching media on a PC or Mac, try Plex Media Player (PMP) instead of the web interface. PMP is a much more capable client than Plex Web.
