I have PMS set to generate intro video markers as a scheduled task and when media is added. This seems to work well for the most part. I know most shows have successfully had their intros detected, as we’re able to skip them every night when watching.
I have scheduled tasks set to run between 10PM and 6AM. I’m up at 4:45 every morning, so I have a chance to see what PMS is doing during part of this window, and it seems it is running intro detection for the same shows/seasons over and over. I would assume it’s starting this process at 10PM and it’s not finished by 6AM, so it’s running quite a bit if you figure it does it every night.
I noticed it was running intro detection for season 6 of House, however, when checking those episodes while it was running, they all seem to have intro markers set.
For another show like Westworld (the intro is the very beginning of each episode and is quite long), no into markers seem to be ever set.
I don’t see House being analyzed for intro detection in your log. I saw several shows being analyzed then it stops in the middle of Westworld Season 2 so there shouldn’t be intros for that season. Season 1 should have worked. I have intros for Westworld so it is possible.
I’m not seeing intro markers for Season 1 of Westworld. And while I don’t what it’s doing really between 10PM and about 4:45AM, I do know that it appears the same shows/seasons are being scanned every morning.
EDIT: Also would have occurred after logs were captured, but Good Omens was being scanned. It appears to have markers and I know I’ve seen it being scanned other mornings as well.
I did add a show later last night that probably pushed the scheduled tasks back a bit, but tried to finish with season 1 of Westworld which still do not have intro markers. One season it did was season 3 of Twin Peaks. While it was scanning, it appeared that only 2 episodes had markers but more (not all) did after it was done. So it is doing something, Maybe?
I tried seeing if forcing intro detection by doing an analyze would wind up with a different outcome. I tried it on season 1 of Westworld and it still didn’t work.
Did some package updates and restarted for a kernel update. Tried again and BINGO. It worked for at least season 1 of Westworld. I’ll let it run tonight and see what’s left the next morning.
Still not sure what the exact issue would have been, however.
I wonder if it’s some strange permission issue and PMS couldn’t update something resulting in the loop. Had you tried just restarting your server before?
