Same problem as well, both android tv and phone app crashes with pre-roll.
Hope they repair it in the next update :crossed_fingers:

Sideloading an APK is pretty simple for a lot of technical people. However, a majority of people buying these devices donā€™t have that high of technical skill, let alone know how to Google search for instructions on how to adjust the settings to be able to install the necessary apps. If the app itself is not working, then it needs to be fixed. The workarounds are negatively impacting the Plex experience for the Host and other clients.

Thereā€™s a new release as of today, I checked under ā€œFixesā€ and nothing about the extras/intros as of yet.

@sixones @BigWheel I tested again with the latest version 8.29.0.30433 (b3774acd) and the issue still persists. Please let me know if you need additional logs to continue troubleshooting. Thanks.

When it is fixed there will be a note about it in the release info in app store and Plex for Android - #414 by sixones. Iā€™m sorry I donā€™t have an ETA

This has driven me mad the past month. Thought it was an issue with my server.

Any update on this? It happens on both of my NVidia Shields. Super annoying. I"m having to use Apple TV at the moment.

Nothing that Iā€™ve seenā€¦ Itā€™s super annoyingā€¦ I actually installed and am playing with Jellyfin.

The bad part is this seems to be a bug in the client so you canā€™t easily just roll back the server version and fix it.

Itā€™s been working lately for me. Just make sure the Fire TV app is updated.

I just tried itā€¦ and SOME of the intros are working. But many of them are still causing the client to crash. Some weeks ago, every intro would cause it to crash. Something seems to have changed, but itā€™s definitely not reliable yet.

Just piling on this bandwagon. It looks like there has been 2 releases of the Android client since this was acknowledged by the Plex team and still no complete fix.

I miss my pre-rolls too! Please fix this!
