Unfortunatly i've bad new and it seems that jflysocal is right. Today i had the event again although i deactivated the fanart. I've the impression that the event occurs faster with activated fanart but can't proof this.
I still wondering why this effect only happens with plex and not with netflix. Where is the different?
Mike
P.S. Reactivated fanart after the even because it's really a great feature.
I have a workaround wich is working well for me. At evening, when it's bedtime :P , I trigger a reboot of my ATV by hand. After i installed this procedure i hadn't any event any more. Unfortunately i won't be able to monitor the event, and a possible vanish of it, anymore.
I know that this workaround isn't really satisfying but it's working.

So you are saying a daily reboot of your ATV has caused the issue to go away?

That smells like a memory leak in iOS......
Yes, i think so, too. This was the reason why I thought that the problem is triggered by the fanart couse they consuming additional memory. But im still uncertain to see apple in responsibility only, cause the effect only pops up with plex.
I believe it could be a memory issue also due to the larger iOS size. Can anyone try a old commit on iOS 8 and see if the issue is still present (eg no fanart preferably much older).
Today i was on holliday and so i streamed music via airplay from my Diskstation over the whole day. At evening i watched a movie and i got the event after one hour again. My event isn’t exactly a BSoD, it’s more like freezing the streaming and all play functions. The aTV still respond on commands but no movie or music will play, whether by plex nor by airplay.
It seems that my workaround do his job by the memory consumption for one movie and not more. Oh, by the way, in the past plex was catching the whole movie in memory and now it buffers only 10-15 minutes.
I stopped using MP4 files (only using them rarely, at least) and I haven't had any problems for days. Even on those rare occasions when I do watch an MP4, I haven't had a hang yet. I'm just gonna wait for the next ATV update to test if I can start watching MP4s consistently again...
I had an event today again and i earnd new knowledge, too.
I watched a movie and i knew that a freez can occure, so i checked frequently the ongoing puffering of my movie. As i discovered that the puffering was not longer ongoing i stoped watching and started some different movies on plex, too. Very soon i saw only the rotating satelite and no play was possible through this issue i left plex connect and launched a movie on netflix without any problem. After i recognized that netflix has no problem i switched back to plex and continued my movie with the result that the puffering runs as usual.
My conclusion is that plex connect triggers some kind of memory overflow meanwhile netflix was cleaning up the memory.

Is there any kind of news about this issue out there?
Could anybody reproduce the non mp4 result from jfly? If yes, do you know a tool to change my containers easely direct on my synology nas?

Instead of changing the containers of all your files, perhaps you can set Plex to use the transcoder for ALL files? Just a thought, since I've never experienced a hang when Plex uses the transcoder. I would point out though, that for some reason, Plex's transcoder doesn't seem to transcode MP4s as well as other file formats (AVI,MKV)... something I never understood. Maybe there's a perfectly reasonable explanation for that, but I'm not a developer, so I wouldn't know...

I thought about that but i run the PSM on a Synology DS 214play and so is transcoding not an option, only if there is a way to activate the audio remux function divorced from the video transcode.
1) ATV is in what seems to be constant buffering loop - I have noticed this few times with IOS7 with Youtube app. I happens to me when I try to watch a longer stream (45min or so); ATV randomly goes into buffering loop. Sometimes restarting stream seems to help, sometimes not. Looks like ATV problem to me. This problem happens often (latest IOS7 version).
2) Black screen of death - happened to me few times on IOS6 and once on IOS7. Problem here is that ATV does not react to any commands when in this state - I can only unplug power cable to force restart. Haven't happened to me since I disable manual PMS address in settings in favor to GDM. However, it might be only coincidence. This happened to me only in PlexConnect.
There is a third issue, too. It’s mine and it’s stuck between yours.
My aTV stops playing, streaming and puffering after, round about, 60 min., but my aTV still react on commands and i can reboot it which restarts the timer. Also, if i intercept the point of freezing by constantly checking the captureing process i can prevent the issue by starting a stream in netflix. Also i must say that the event only shows up with MP4 files. In bistory, i don’t know if it depents on PMS or PlexConnect the aTV was capturing the full MP4 file and know the puffer is limited to a max of 20 minutes.
