[IOS] Actress portrait preview not showing

Server Version#: 1.32.7.7571
Player Version#: 8.26

Just got an update for the Plex App on my iPhone (IOS 17.0.3) and now the actors don´t have their portrait preview anymore. (but now the Crew is also shown there! - nice!)

The only way to show the portraits again is to click on “Cast & Crew” - then they show up fine again.

I guess this is not supposed to be like that?

Same here. The extra step to show all the cast & crew is inconvenient, but pictures not showing is a big problem. Also while on mobile it seems to be possible to expand the cast & crew section, its seems to not be possible at all on AppleTV?

Did some testing on other devices: Windows, Android, Nvidia Shield,… all of them display the images correctly. This seems to be purely an iOS problem.

I have the same iOS version and the same app version and the Cast pictures are shown as they used to.

I have though a problem with the background picture not showing.

Forgot to mention a big thanks to Plex for adding the Director and Studio :+1:

So on your end, the app shows the pictures right away?

Noticed that on movies from plex.tv the pictures are also shown directly, without the need to click on cast & crew…

Yes, as they used to

Same problem for me with two Apple TV’s i just updated the Plex app to latest version.
The Cast & Crew on every movie, Tv shows missing the images and I can’t click on any actors, nothing happened.
This only effect other PLEX HOME accounts user here at home. My main account is working, but when I use my second home account or my daughters account the problem is there.
I also tried to make an new Plex Home account, same problem.
It is working on plex web for chrome and Plex for Windows.

Plex Server version: 1.32.7.7571
Apple TV iOS: 17.0
Apple TV Plex client: 8.26

I’ve seen a number of people on the Plex subreddit reporting having the same issue. Hope this gets fixed soon.

Thanks for this. It was in my path for validating but this comment got me there faster! Thanks everyone for reporting! Filing an internal issue now.

A couple things I’d like to know from anyone reporting this issue.

  • Is the library where this is being observed set to Include adult content in it’s Advanced Settings?
  • Is this only observed while on a Managed or Home User?

Hi,

  1. All my libraries have “include adult content” disable/off.
  2. I asked a friend with Apple TV, and it seems to work. (Apple TV iOS v.17 and Plex client 8.26) So I believe this only effect Home User (in my case, user without the crown icon)

The issue is only present in my ‘Movie’ libraries. ‘TV’ and ‘Other Videos’ are unaffected.

I’m the only user (Home Admin/with the crown icon).

Happens in both a Movie library with and another without adult content. so the adult contentsettings doesn’t seem to matter (at least in my case).

I also dug up an iPad that had the previous version before this one of the Plex App installed, Everything is working as it should on that one.

I have similar problem with others, the ones that match using Plex agent are normal and have no problem, but the ones that match using third party agents all have this problem, the cast image does not show up on the iOS (15.2) ends of Cast & Crew and cannot be clicked on, when you go to the Cast page it shows the image and can be clicked on, hopefully this will be fixed as soon as possible.

I had the same problem on the latest version of tvOS and iOS apps. Solved it by enabling the Discover source in Online Media Sources.

Tried that. Didn’t help.

Same issue
Not able to resolve. Experiencing it on ATV app and iOS on all accounts. Issue is with couple of libraries of TV and Movies rest of the libraries are working fine. If same contact is watched through by adding it in watchlist than problem is resolved.
Experienced it after upgrading to TVOS 17.

There is a new app version for iOS and tvOS working it’s way through our release process that has the fix for this issue. I have confirmed the fix resolves this issue. Release should (:crossed_fingers:) be later next week. Check Plex for Apple TV and Plex for iOS for release notes calling out this issue.

The testflight version appears to have fixed Cast & Crew for managed users for me!
