IOS Cellular Data Quality Bug

On IOS when using cellular data the quality gets capped to 480p, any plans on fixing this ?

Could be two possible reasons.

1 - Change the Quality options on your iOS / Player device

  • Open Plex
  • Open settings (click the three horizontal lines next to Home at the top & click the cog in the top right hand corner of the window that opens)
  • Choose quality
  • Choose remote streaming & select the quality you like

2 - Confirm in your Plex server what your “limited remote stream bitrate” is set to

  • Open Plex server or client for desktop
  • Goto settings
  • Look for “Remote Access” and click it
  • At the bottom of the page you should see “Limit remote stream bitrate”
  • I have mine set to “Original (No limit)” so I can always control quality from client, however if you have other people that stream and you need to share limited upload bandwidth you might like to use a lower quality.

@soprano23 if you’ve followed the recommendations of @ozsmac and are still experiencing this behavior, you may be running into the same bug as this: iOS Plex app won't give transcode options above 480p

Please reply in that thread so that the admins know you are experiencing the same issue.
