iOS Plex app shows server unavailable when selecting Library, but content is available in collections or recommendations tabs

Server Version#: Vs 1.19.4 on QNAP
Player Version#: iOS vs 7.1 on iPad Pro

iOS app no longer works properly when selecting Library after server update. Error message says server not available when it clearly is available. Can see recommendations and can see all collections. Searches find all content even when it says server not available. When selecting a collection I can see all content. Library appears to only work if no content is synced to device now. Lost all sync content when this happened and deleted app, replaced it. All worked. Then synced one movie from iPad app. It worked. Synced a second and iOS app says the library is not accessible any longer but it really is accessible. Other, separate movie library and TV show library are both available from same server. Sync content is not correct. Clearly a recent broken app, server update. Happened right after updating to latest server version. I will probably back up to prior server version that worked, but update caused loss of all synced content - of course very frustrating. Found similar posting for sync only, but this is now affecting server library after sync, not just sync content/library.

I don’t know if this will help you or not, I had a similar problem on my Plex for Android. If I am understanding you correctly, you uninstalled and then reinstalled Plex. When you reinstalled, were you required to “sign in” again, or did it remember you?

I found that after the recent server update, I couldn’t see anything in any of my libraries (Movies, TV, Music) at all. It said the library was empty, even though if I went to my “Home” screen, or collections, things were clearly there. I had to actually sign out in the app, then sign back in again, and everything has been working normally since.

Maybe it will work for you, maybe it won’t.

I have the exact same issue as Nield.
After the first sync, when I looked at my synced content it was all there. After the second sync (after adding more tracks), when I opened the synced content the plex iOS app said the content wasn’t available. When I opened the same music library from the server and filtered for synced content, it worked fine.
The content is synced, but the library view for the synced content is broken.

Thanks for the suggestion but I had signed out completely and reconnected after again downloading the app. I think it is an incompatibility between the recent updates of the server and app. And, since it isn’t just me (Bart274’s experience below), that further confirms it to be an update caused incompatibility in my mind.

I seem to be having the same issue. Some libraries are available, one is not. The one from which I sync content is the one that is not available.

Issue is happening on a Synology NAS Plex server v1.19.4.2935. iOS app v7.1.

Yep. That’s the exact and repeated/realized problem. It is clearly a plex server, app incompatibility associated with sync capability.

I have tried downgrading Plex server to 1.19.3.2831 and 1.18.7.2438 but no success. I don’t have an easy way to test downgrading the Plex iOS app, but the issue appears to be related to that since I wasn’t able to undo the problem with a server downgrade.

Agree. I tried the same thing. Can’t “back up” the app; at least I don’t know how to do so. Clearly a Plex programming error in my judgement. Guess we’re at the mercy of the folks who broke the functionality to get it back to operational, and back to where it was before the recent update “enhancements.”

As it’s been a week, and I haven’t seen any updates to this thread or to the iOS app, I just thought I’d check to see if anyone has success in resolving this? I’m still stuck.

Plex IOS app v7.2 was released yesterday and appears to have fixed this problem.

Looks like the update did restore the functionality. The library is now showing and working. Wonder how plex can document the issue and prevent it from happening again. Updates that cause someone to lose downloaded content can be a real problem, particularly when they have significant content that has been synced. Thanks plex, for returning the functionality.
