Is it possible to ALWAYS prompt to choose which user?

I have a simple setup: Plex (Apple TV) with a PMS running on Synology. My wife and I each have our own user IDs and the idea is that we share the same libraries but watch different shows or the same shows at possibly different times. I don’t want her to to mark my stuff as viewed or “on deck” and vice versa.

The problem is that the Plex client will always go to the last user. For me, I have no trouble remembering to switch user accounts. That’s not “spouse friendly” however and my wife will simply open up Plex and start watching.

The best I could do is put a PIN on my account. There’s nothing secret going on here (she knows my PIN) but if I’m the last user, it will prompt for the PIN. If not, it will go into her account. While this does solve the problem at hand, I would hope for a cleaner solution. That is, whenever Plex is launched, just prompt to choose between user 1 or user 2.

Is that possible?

I know nothing about PMS on Synology so I may not be able to help.
That said, I know PMS/Windows and Roku/Android/Web it ALWAYS prompts for user.
There might be an option in the server settings. That or pincode the wife account

Each Plex Client should have a setting labeled something like automatically login. It sounds like you have that enabled.

Which Plex client are you using ?

I have noticed that PMP does not prompt for user login when it resumes from sleep regardless of disabling auto login.

So unless I remember to logout when I finish watching something then the next person will automatically gain access to my login and that messes with the watch status.

This is what happens for me. If I don’t set a pin on my own account it won’t ask to choose a user.

The Plex Client I’m using is the Apple TV one (current version).

My account has a PIN but PMP does not prompt me to enter it when the PC resumes from sleep. Basically, the PIN is ignored unless you remember to logout after watching anything.

Unfortunately, on the Apple TV even if the screen saver kicks in for more than a couple minutes, it puts you back at the user selection if you have the PIN turned on for the current account. After entering the PIN, you’re taken back to the movie where you paused it. This works and solves the problem of someone using the wrong account but ideally, it would just always show the user choice without having to lock it with a PIN.

I have not seen your issue… PMP always prompts for a PIN for me, I never log out.
