So all said, I can simply update my QNAP firmware to 5.0.0 and everything should work as before with my Plex Server/Clients?
Actually Plex Server and Clients are all up to date.
Thanks.

Yes, you can upgrade and everything will work the same as before. I had zero issues with my upgrade to QTS 5.0 on my Qnap TS-453d.
…and zero issues on my TS-453Bmini.
5.0.0.1828 had mayor issues with DNS, so any app could not reach internet. See over at QNAP forum.
They had just published a new one, maybe it got fixed there. If so I can vote for 5.0 as well.
Will test later today or tomorrow.
Wonderful.
Firing up my systems to check it out
it’s 5.0.0.1837
TS-128 is not calling for an update. Is this a manual push?
I can see it on the downloads page for my TS-453Bmini, but* I see nothing about DNS related issues in the release notes,
Edit: typo
Calling QNAP
My 128A is test piglet
After 10 minutes of no-answer… I’ll call later
…but my admin page does not show it…

Ok… YOU try it!
TS-128
Well guys…I tried to update my TS-251+ …but the Firmware Update feature within the nas doesn’t show any new firmware anymorem and I’m up-to-date with the 4.5.x firmware!!
It looks like QNAP has pulled the update from the Firmware Update channel and left it only for download from the firmware download section on their website (here the download page for the TS-251+).
Here’s a thread on the QNAP forums regarding this issue (if it could be called an issue…) and as they say, it can have been decided from above, for reducing updates to the fresh new and still bugged 5.0.0 firmware (even if it works, it still doesn’t mean that it’s bug-free).
In your humble opinion, what shall I do? Wait for an official release through the Firmware Update section, or download the latest firmware and installed manually??
Thanks.
I would wait.
There comes a time with all products when it’s best to stop trying to push forward.
The TS-251+ is now 5 years old. IMHO, it’s best to stabilize it and let it be. If they provide an update, consider it before you install it; don’t just accept it.
Will definitely wait before putting on heavy stuff.
Will keep you guys updated
I have trust issues, and QNAP hasn’t exactly alleviated those, but QTS 5 upgrade went pretty smoothly for me. No new issues, but no existing issues were resolved for me. Hope you have as good or better experience.
I’ve tested QTS 5.0 on all of our LAB systems which can support it.
I’ve gone so far as loading QTS 5.0 on our TS-877 with a Nvidia GTX-1050Ti and it all works fine with everything as-is.
I just logged into my NAS to notice it had auto-updated to QTS 5. Plex server seemed to be working, but needed updating. So I downloaded the latest version and installed it. Ever since, Plex will simply not load up at all. I have removed and reinstalled it. I have stopped and restarted the service. I have rebooted the NAS. Every time I try to open Plex media server my browser just sits there forever. I don’t know what to do - any suggestions?
I’m wondering if it might have something to do with using a secure connection? I was getting a warning that secure connections were not supported for this app (though I had always previously managed to open it with a secure connection), so I disabled the option to force a secure connection, accessed QTS from the non-secure port, then clicked on Plex media server. It still just seems to sit there loading forever.
Create a shared folder named PlexData (exact capitalization)
Attempt to start PMS – Stop it if it starts
Open File Station → PlexData → Plex Media Server
Right-click Logs → Compress
Download that ZIP file and attach here.
I’ll review it to see what’s happening
@ChuckPa here’s a zip of the logs.
