I have been using Plex for years, and have restricted the content shared with my children using the Sharing Labels on a managed user profile. Suddenly I can no longer manage those settings on the Children’s profile. The only option I have is for generic rating control “Younger Kid”, “Older Kid”, “Teen”.
I started this post thinking the settings had gone away with a recent update, but then I checked one of the other profiles, for my parents’ account, and the custom restrictions controls are still there. Am I missing something? Is there now an auto control on profiles called “Kids”?
The Sharing Labels are still showing in the Parental Controls article, last updated 5 Dec 2019, but the appearance of the settings menu has changed a bit from what’s pictured.
I hope I can work this setting out without having to create a whole new profile for the kids.
Thanks.
Thanks for the reply. That is the menu I was looking at, but it wasn’t showing the settings to customize restrictions per shared library because the Restriction Profile had been set to “Older Kid”.
I just figured it out. When editing the Restriction Profile it explains the options:
“Younger Kid allows TV-Y, G, TV-G and equivalent; Older Kid allows TV-PG, PG and equivalent; Teen allows TV-13, PG-13 and equivalent. Pick None to choose your own ratings and manage other Media Server permissions.”
I have to select “None” for the Restriction Profile, and then it lets me customize the restrictions.
I don’t know how this changed on their profile, but glad I figured it out. I guess the previous design allowed for selecting a Restriction Profile and customizing Shared Library Labels.
Thanks again for the quick response, @Stormdragon.
