I have many movies on Plex, but if I add say 100 new ones, maybe 80 might be recognized. Is there any way to access a log or something on my server that shows me every movie that is not recognized? If I had this, I could perhaps alter the file names to get them recognized.
Not sure about log. But the way I found to tell is do a scan then go under movies do sort date by date released. All the ones that are not recognized will be at the bottom with no date.
Do rename all of your movies to a Plex-conforming schema.
Doing so will prevent several issues in the long run.
Filebot makes this easy and painless.
For the already misidentified files:

-
use the ‘duplicate’ filter to find posters with a little number on it. call up the plex media infoand see if Plex mistook other files as mere ‘versions’ of another movie.
Once you’ve identified the mis-matched files, rename them, then perform the Plex Dance to purge the mis-identification from Plex’s database.

never let a file name end with partx or discx unless you want to activate the stacking feature.
