Is there a problem with he TVDB?? Shows that previously matched aren’t matching anymore. Not downloading cover art of some shows.
Its all a bit strange.
TVDB is a bit like the wind these days - sometimes it blows.

I found the answer. It seems as thought the TVDB website is having a few issues and was running from a backup clone when i tried to add some content. After waiting a while the Site came back on line and the Shows started filling out.
So it looks like they’ve been having some issues…
Its still all over the place 
This is doing my head in. I’ve been curating my library for years, and it’s immaculately labelled and organised, but in the last month or so quite a few shows just refuse to scrape the metadata from thetvdb. I wish that site would get their act together, it’s too good and too comprehensive for them to just let it go to pieces like it has been lately.
Yeah, there are still issues with TVDB. It’ll match the episode ok, but 50% of the time the metadata simply isn’t downloading. It might grab it later, but often will need to remove/re-add the episode. Or it will pick them up when I add a different episode. Really frustrating.
Yeah, this is the same behaviour I’m seeing. Out of a 22 ep season it might miss 2-3 episodes. Of these episodes that it misses it seems to put some wrong fields in the db. I had some episodes labelled with their original air date.
Very strange.
Regular issues with the website though the plex agent seems to be ok.
Get the impression that the sysadmins over at TVDB have just walked away. No response to outage reports and no sign of any fixes happening. If it closes its doors then plex will be seriously lacking, might be worth directing a few sheckles in donations towards.
TVDB’s reliability has improved somewhat over the last week or so, but they’re still having the occasional blackout.
If they’re doing what I would be doing they’ve got a Chinese Fire Drill in progress over there with Chaos and Mayhem in complete control… or they may be headed to Aruba with a couple of suitcases full of Donation Funds.
Hard to say.
Agree with JuiceWSA above - it’s back to normal the past week or so for me too. Before, it took a few refreshes, but this week, it’s grabbing meta-data as per normal.
Cloudflare outage pages twice this week…

Does anyone know if Plex is supposed to try and grab metadata later on if for some reason it cannot at the time of adding the media? Seems like when TVDB has been down this past week Plex does not go back and download metadata.
TVDB has been down for HOURS, so I pulled the plug on all automated deliveries.
I can’t say with any reliability what happens when an item is placed when TVDB is down and it doesn’t match. In my experience I usually have to Plex Dance® the item, so for the last few months if TVDB is AWOL I just don’t add anything until they come back.
Right now my media factory is shut down, the conveyor belt has ground to a halt and I sent all the workmen home for the day - except for the skeleton crew that’s cleaning up the joint and doing maintenance on the machinery. I’ll buy 'em lunch - so there will always be volunteers for these duties the next time TVDB goes missing.

You can just refresh the individual series when TVDB comes back up.

Yea, it’s funny how that never reliably works, but The Plex Dance® absolutely works every single time.
It’s a real tear-jerker though when you see TVDB is back up, Plex Dance® the item only to find out while you were Dancing TVDB went back down.

TVDB is down.
But the series populated with images and data???
How, I wonder…
If you have your Agents set in the ‘sane’ way - TVDB at the top under it’s tab and TMDB at the top under it’s tab the miracle of your show actually being in TMDB has probably occurred.
Illustrating in living color why you should do that very thing.
I will however wait to bring the Plex-elves back to work until such time as the lights come back on at TVDB.
