After downloading one or several movies, I have to wait days for them to appear in the libraries. I’ve checked, and the movies were successfully downloaded and are playable. But I can’t find any way to tell Plex to add the new files to the libraries even though I’ve gone through the menus many times. Is that how it’s supposed to work or am I missing something?
I don’t currently have Plex Media Player installed; however, you can manually initiate a scan of your library via the web client. From the home screen, hover your mouse pointer over the desired library in the side-panel on the left and then click the vertical ellipsis. On the resulting menu is the option to Scan Library Files:
When you select that option, Plex will scan for any new media added to the library. I’ve not used Plex Media Player in a while, but I believe you can do the same using its interface.
