Issue: Plexamp Store Track Progress

Server Version#: 1.31.2.6739
Player Version#: 4.6.3

Good evening. I have tried numerous times to get Plexamp to work for audiobook-mp3s. Its hit and miss on whether it saves my track progress. I’d say 75% it fails. This happens whether I listen to audio on plex web and then later go to use it on my Android 13 phone, or vice-versa. I have “sync recent plays” enabled on Android 13_Plexamp, and I have “store track progress” on PMS. I have searched on here but the topics are old, closed, or not answered. Thanks

For the server to reliably store the track progress, you need to

  • actually Stop playback instead of pausing it (the latter is the default in Plexamp). You do that with a long press on Pause in Plexamp.
In Plex Web, use the square ■ button to completely close the player bar.
  • while stopping, there must be a working connection to your Plex server. A condition which is not always fulfilled when you’re out and about.

Plex Web can keep sending status updates which can mess with progress; have you tried exclusively with Plexamp (desktop and mobile)?

Hey Otto: Thanks for your help. I didn’t know about the hold pause to stop and send the sync spot to server. That sounds promising .

Hey Elan: There’s a desktop version?! Holy cow! Didn’t know that. Although, my everyday PC is my Chromebook with chrome os.

Is there a chromeOS version?

Is there a Linux version?

If neither of those exist, then do you think it would work better if I ran the android plexamp on both my Chromebook and my android?

Thanks for help.

I suspect so, yes!

Thanks for the reply. Does a plexamp that’s “made for chromeOS” or “made for Linux” exist yet?

there is a linux version, yes.

That’s great. Thank you.
