Issue with plex and big sur

Ok Plex run on a IMAC 2018, on Big Sur 11.1

Plex is version 1.21.1.3876

my media is on a USB drive formatted NTFS and Im using Tuxera 2020 to be able to write NTFS file

I updated everything today, Plex, Tuxera and Mac to Big sur so Im not sure where the problem started

But now every thing I watch bug on different way

Either

-Freezes

Jumps around to another time in the show

stop the show and passes to the next one

This happens with every kind of show on every devices (on my Mac directly, iPad, Roku TV, samsung TV)

I tried to put a show directly on my Mac (to see if the issue was my external HDD or my Tuxera) and the issue still happens

So the issue is either Plex or my MAC

Any idea?

There’s been some issues with Big Sur in combination with certain network filtering apps (e.g. Little Snitch). This was fixed with the update to Big Sur 11.1.

I haven’t seen any general issues / problems since.
So not sure what is causing this for you. Doesn’t seem to be a general issue w/ Plex or macOS.

I use NTFS for Mac by Paragon without issue on iMac 2020. MacOS 11.1 installed.

Suggestions:

  1. Dump Cache
  2. Check if these files are Transcoding, avoid transcoding with file selection.
  3. If using Wifi check your Band and Channel selection for Congestion and interference, router position
  4. To reduce LAN issues make static all device LAN IP addressing
  5. Make sure your not using IPv6 on devices or Server
  6. Try using a Public DNS 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8
  7. If using a 27" iMac check your RAM is seated correctly and all modules installed are preforming in their current slots.

how do I check the transcoder part?

You could use the information showing in the “now playing” tile for that playback on the Plex server dashboard. If any part of the media is being transcoded, this will displayed (where the exemplary screenshot says “Direct Play”).

Problem seems to be my Mac finally

As I have the same problem with VLC

Did the Apple Diagnostics test show any issues?
