So I know its only just been announced has anyone tested to see if Plex works on it?
I suppose the wording was “it will be available to developers (later) today”. Public beta will start (at some point in) July.
So the answer is almost definitely: nobody has yet been able to test.
We don’t have it.
There’s no such thing as 10.16, it’s macOS 11
Please Sir, Big Sur
Just for those wandering it has been working fine for me.
I used a secondary machine to run Big Sur as a fresh install. I can say that Plex will work, but will not allow me to add libraries. When I get to the select media folder I can only view the top level for my USB drive where my media is stored. I used to be able to select External, and it would show me the subfolders. However, now it won’t let me get past external. I’m going to play around with it some more.
Edit: If you go into System Preferences/Security & Privacy/Privacy, and manually add Plex to have full disk access it will work. Remember though after allowing access you have to quit, and restart the app.
The same exists in Catalina
I can’t get the Plex Media Player app to work on Big Sur. I’ve manually added the app as full disk access but it won’t launch. Any ideas?
I am able to use the old Plex app to play content on Big Sur. The Plex Media Player app crashes on launch as reported.
@chansearrington @ehren9 is is possible to get the app logs after trying to launch it in BigSur
I can try that this evening. Can you please advise where I can find the app logs?

We are looking at MacOS 11, arent we?
Yes. Latest BETA released 07/07.
Update. Latest Big Sur BETA released today. Plex Media Player now works normally.
On my iMac Pro the Plex media server immediately crashes the machine when started. Crash as in “kernel panic”
Did this ever get fixed? I am having similar on my 10.14 macmini
Any solution?
I’m having the same issue on my late 2015 iMac with Big Sur Beta. 11.0.1
