Issue with TV Show Stuck (US) (2022): TVDB 416590

This is happening with the Plex TV Series agent.

It matches with the TV show no issues, but for some reason it doesn’t get any info for the episodes, and they all show up in my “Unmatched Episodes” filter.

I’ve tried the Plex Dance and similar, but it can’t seem to get episode metadata for this show.

Maybe use the ID from TheMovieDB instead as this is the default with the new metadata agent.

Something appears to be off with the TMDB show order with this

It’s pulling the right show for me with the right titles but all the posters are wrong. The show poster looks like a screen shot with Spanish on it and there’s no episode thumbnails

Stuck (US) (2022) < – Folder

Season 01

Stuck (US).S01E01.mp4

Stuck (US).S01E02.A Hairy, Toothy Teratoma

Stuck (US).S01E03.Stiletto in the Eye

So strange. I tried both solutions, Plex Dance, etc…and still ended up in the same place, Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3.

Are these MP4 files?
And if so, do they perhaps have these titles embedded in their internal meta tags?

Unfortunately not, the files are named as such:

Stuck (2022) [tmdb-157851]/Season 01/Stuck (2022) - S01E01 - Vibrator in the ■■■■■■ - [Stuck.2022.S01E01.Vibrator.in.the.■■■■■■.720p.HULU.WEB-DL.AAC2.0.H.264-buttcheeks].mkv

I could try removing these files and grabbing different ones and doing the Plex Dance again…

Don’t use square brackets to enclose the TVDB ID. Square brackets cause Plex to ignore the stuff between them. You want it to use the information.
https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/

Whoops. I stole that from Sonarr’s guides, will update my naming scheme. With that being said, do you think there’s any chance it is impacting this current issue? I have tried “Fix Match”, but it seems to be finding the actual series, that’s why I’m confused…

I wish there was a way to get Plex TV Agent to just use TheTVDB

Once it’s been matched to the correct show (you can verify this in the Plex media info XML), at least the episode titles should appear after a metadata refresh.

I’m so confused. The TV show itself seems to have the right IDs in the XML, but the episodes remain as Episode 1 with no meaningful metadata. Here are the two XML files, one for the show one for the episode:

Stuck XMLs.zip (5.0 KB)

Refresh Metadata doesn’t do anything.

i see there was an edit to that season on TVDB today so we might not have updated data but I’ll poke metadata team something might be off with us ingesting it

TVDB has been fine for a couple weeks, no idea what was changed today but it definitely wasn’t the episode titles or anything like that  But hopefully a little poke gets some stuff updated in the cache or however it all works and we’ll be good to go, thanks for looking into it!

Shameless hijack: would you mind looking into Hard Knocks (2001) and LEGO Marvel Super Heroes. Those two shows are a complete mess right now, probably due to TMDB once again messing up when TVDB shows everything correctly.

https://thetvdb.com/series/hard-knocks-2001

https://thetvdb.com/series/lego-marvel-super-heroes

With Hard Knocks, TMDB does their thing and splits up one show into two. Plex, of course, pulls metadata from TMDB and messes up the last three seasons, even though TVDB order is selected.

With LEGO Marvel Super Heroes, TMDB has only one season, while TVDB has seven, which are being ignored.

Both are probably link issues, as usual.

Thanks!

@VBB I added Hard Knocks with some test files for Season 16-19 and it looks correct to me based with TVDB Aired. I’m not clear what is incorrect there. I only add 4 files per season but the episode data for those appears correct as to what is on TVDB but I may be missing something since i am not familiar with the show.

D’oh! I just now realized I had set Hard Knocks to TMDB order a while back due to a similar issue. Thanks for checking. All good now

@BigWheel I found another one that matches at the show level, but not at the episode level:

TVDB default lists three episodes, which is how it should be. TMDB has six episodes. Plex ignores TVDB ordering and simply lists the episodes as unmatched.

TVDB has actually both versions, depending on the episode ordering you are selecting.
So which Episode Ordering has been set for the library as a whole and did you override it for this show?

How did you determine that they’re “unmatched”?

I’m aware, but since Plex can’t use the 6-episode version, I didn’t mention it.

They have no episode info and show up when you filter episodes by “unmatched”. That’s how I normally determine what needs to be fixed. Note that the Hard Knocks incident was a one-off on my part

I use TVDB aired, with very few exceptions.

Not sure what you mean by that. If you set the Episode Ordering to “TVDB Absolute” or “TMDB Aired”, Plex will use the 6-episode version.

Which season and episode numbers did you use for them?

I mean this:

The 6 Episodes order is one of those special orders added by someone on TVDB, which you know Plex can’t use. Absolute order, sure, but I never use that.

For this show, TVDB aired should correctly identify the three episodes, but it leaves them unmatched. I used S01E01, S01E02 and S01E03.
