Issues after Updating to IOS 6- Seek bar problem!

I guess we're SOL, for now.

Does still nobody have an idea?

If not, is it correct that Apple is still signing the old 5.3 os or whatever it was?

Guess Ill just downgrade today after work then! :)

There's been a couple of threads on this one...

It's seems the consensus is that it's a problem when transcoding video to the ATV and Dolby Digital.  So, if your container is MKV, you'll have an issue.  If you have native files (.m4v, .mp4), it's not an issue.

Personally, I have an all Apple world (computer, ATV, iPhone, etc) so I'm re-containering my files with this app:  http://code.google.com/p/subler/

It's taking about 4 min a movie for me, and the added benefit of being able to see as I scrub through the movie is an added bonus.

My library isn't huge (100 movies and 150 tv episodes), so it's not a huge deal to me.  If it for you, that's your call.

I haven't gotten any impression that anyone really understands this issue, and if it's even an issue with PlexConnect at all.  My personal feeling is that it could be awhile, and having native files will make it easier on things now and in the future.

YMMV.

only problem is that subtitles won;t work with files like mp4s or m4vs..

Subtitles work fine with mp4/m4v, as long as they're muxed into the file and not external. If you're remuxing mkv's into mp4/m4v then there's really no reason not to include the subs in the file if you need them.

what program do you use for pc?

Although I’m a PC user, I do my remuxing using OSX and iFlicks or Subler which I run from Windows in VMware. It’s the only time I’d ever use OSX  There isn’t much in the way of decent native PC remuxing software (well none that’s as easy to use as iFlicks)

Roidy, is iFlicks easier or faster than Subler....I've only used Subler to this point.

Easier - yes, much easier (nicer interface as well).
Faster - I’d say there about the same.

But as far as I know iFlicks doesn’t allow you to add extra tracks, so if you want to mux subs into the file Subler is the way to go.

iFIicks has a publicly downloadable beta of their v2 version.

Fantastic, and it seems v2 allows you to add subs  This app just got much better.

Edit:-

OSX 10.7.3 only :frowning: Now I’m sad, I only have OSX 10.6 and OSX is a nightmare to set up in VMware :frowning:

I'll have to give it a shot.  My biggest complaint with Subler is how much manual intervention it requires....it makes me long for a drop folder.  : )

mkvtomp4 I just tried and it works perfectly

I haven't gotten any impression that anyone really understands this issue, and if it's even an issue with PlexConnect at all.

From what I can tell, it is almost certainly a DD-encoding issue, and not PlexConnect related. With DD-encoding, Airplaying media that is troublesome with PlexConnect remains troublesome. Without DD-encoding, both PlexConnect and Airplay are trouble-free in this regard.

In general, DD encoding seems impaired. As far as I can tell, there are also problems with files without an audio track and audio tracks that are 96kHz/32bits (possibly just TrueHD). Letting PMS transcode to AAC instead of DD fixes all issues, it seems.

ReneV, that was good idea...I didn't think to try AirPlaying the offending media to see if that fixed the issues.  If it doesn't, then the issue is certainly not PlexConnect related, and related to the way the Plex transcoder is transcoding the DD stream out of an MKV to an aTV friendly .m4v file.

The files that had this issue, didn't once I remuxed them to .m4v files, keeping the exact same video and DD stream.  So, DD and aTV play nice, just with native files only.

It’s fixed with the latest plex pass release of plex media server

tried it out with 9.8.8 but seek bar issue is still there

It doesnt even say so in the changelog

Only the audio issue is fixed in the latest PMS.

Yeah fixed!
