Issues with hardware acceleration after last update

Hi.

i’m using a Synology 418play and until the last update everything was working fine.
now after the update i’m having issues with CPU constantly being at least on 99% and sometimes video to stop playing.

Hardware Acceleration is enabled and i’ve even tried to uninstall and reinstall plex like mentioned in this older post when the same situation happened a few months ago.

Any ideas how i can solve?

Eventually is there a way to revert the update and reinstall the older version?

I am new and just have this one question, maybe is has been answered idk.

Why does plex not offer older versions download? at least one version back should be offered in my opinion.

Note that the Synology version is 32bit only and therefore you will not have the option to enable Hardware Acceleration.

Move the mouse over the poster and click on … then select Get Info. On the lower left of the Get Info window, click on View XML. Copy the text shown on screen into a text file and attach that text file to your post, thanks.

send everything via PM
thank you

I do not know why Plex do not offer older versions. It has been requested many times, by many people, but Plex made the decision to not provide older versions for download.

Fair enough and good to know, I will start archiving versions of PMS just to be safe

This is because with the higher compression ratios, it requires higher decoding rates, so the CPU is going to be processing more data than a typical H.264 encoded video.

hi
verbose disabled
which informations do you need more? date/time couldn’t really say. should be the last thing happening in the logs as i stopped the video and downloaded them directly after issue appeared.

about the transcoding i know my NAS itself can’t deal with it.
that’s why i got the plex pass and hardware accelleration enabled. until now it was perfectly transcoding everything even h265 on multiple instances with a very low usage of my cpu.

so my question stays…while looking at the same videos why didn’t this happen before the update but it’s happening now after the update?
could you see my NAS using the hardware accelleration for the transcoding?

in the meanwhile thanks for the reply
i’ll take a look into filebot asap.

if that helps…i just realized my plex isn’t automatically updating libraries when i add something even if the option is enabled.
before the update as soon as i would add something it would start scanning.

as already said the SAME videos before and after the update were requiring different amount of CPU.
the very SAME video file.
FILE A before update -> hardware accelleration -> 5% cpu
FILE A after update -> hardware accelleration? maybe -> 60% cpu

and i understand what you say about hevc and everything but yet this doesn’t change that before and after the update the very same videos need a different amount of cpu and i still assume don’t get transcoded via hardware acceleration anymore.

unfortunately plex sucks enough to not give the chance to go back to older versions of PMS.
about the rest not worth anymore to repeat the very same stuff every post about same file using different type of cpu while being played in the same way before and after the update.

you can’ help. ok thanks for trying.
i’ll try to reset everything again. event the plex folder. if this won’t get solved i’ll just open a claim for the plex pass on paypal and will look for other options like emby.

If desired,

I will address this upon my return from holiday next week. I will need:

  1. XML of the file being played
  2. Subtitles On/Off
  3. Log files (Debug only), collected after playing back for 30 seconds, using Settings - Server - Help - Download Logs (Attach the ZIP file it gives)
