Server Version#: 1.43.3.10896
Hello,
I’m having issues getting my Plex seever to connect to the Remote Access servers. It says that it’s fully accessible outside of my network but the private and public IP are showing as “Unknown IP”. In an effort to fix this on my own, I’ve take these steps to no avail:
- Confirmed port forwarding is set up correctly for a custom (non-default) Plex port
- Ruled out double NAT — modem confirmed in bridge mode
- Rebooted Plex app, computer, and router
- Checked Windows Firewall rules — all Plex-related inbound rules (DLNA, Media Server, Script Host, Tuner Service) confirmed enabled, allowed, unrestricted
- Ran an external port-check tool — port confirmed open/reachable
- Tested access from an external network (cellular, WiFi off): HTTP → 403 forbidden. HTTPS → successfully loaded the Plex login page
- Toggled Remote Access off/on in Plex settings
- Signed out and back into Plex account (twice)
- Fully uninstalled and reinstalled Plex Media Server (with reboot in between) — library/settings preserved, no change to the issue
I’m not sure what next steps to take but every time I try to reconnect, including removing the manually specified public port, the reconnection hangs and a grey question mark shows up beside Remote Access on the left side bar.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
