It takes a long time until the playback starts / 30 seconds and more

Server Version#: 1.18.0.1944 (Issue since many Versions)
Player Version#: Windows (PLEX and PMP) and Android / Always newest Version but also since mani Versions
NAS with 4k Transcoder possibility but Movies are just in 1080p (3-5GB) and don’t need to be Transcoded.

Hello

As i installed Plex at the begining of the year, i worked everything fine.
Within an Update throught the Summer comes an issue which still is present.

Some Movies which started immeadetally before, will now take up to 30 seconds and more until the wanna start. It stays always the round orange circle.

Other Movies with exactelly the same Encode settings and Size will start very well like always.

It does nor matter how often i start a Movie, i can stop one and start it again to get another 30 secound of lag.

Does anyone have also this issue?
How can i resolve this?

Thank you for your response.

Here is what i did and also the Files you askled for.

Rebooted NAS 03:00

03:05:00 Open PMP as Guest User ZZZZZ (Its exactelly the same at Android TV 8 and PLEX Player, also with every User)
03:06:00 Press Play and watching circle (22.Jump.Street.2014)
03:06:33 Movie starts playing
03:08:33 Pause
03:09:00 Close Movie over “X”

03:13:13 Login as Admin (Web) and Save the Logs

03:17:00 PMP Library press Play (21.Jump.Street.2012)
03:17:02 Movie starts playing immediately
03:17:0? (Hitting “Pause” Button for abaut a second)
03:19:02 Pause
03:19:25 Close Movie over “X”

03:24:20 Save Logs

Please let me know if you will need some other Information or older Logs.

Thank you for watching trough.

I seems so, but why has PLEX an Issue with HEVC which was never before and also won’t be in Series which are Encoded with exactly the identical settings and Bibliotheques?

Bought Plex Pass about a year ago and spent some Weeks to set up the whole DB. Almost everything is in HEVC and i have had absolutelly no trouble over Months, until there came an Update in the Summer.

Spendt again some more Hours to find some similatities
Series - Found not one File which won’t start playing immediately
Movies - Just a window of old Encodes from 2017 will play without watching the circle for 30 secounds.

All Movies which started playing immediatly used the Encode Bibliotheques up to “libebml v1.3.0 + libmatroska v1.4.1”.
Newer, or older which were combined with “Lavf”, won’t play fine anymore.

Except these, it doesn’t matter about the Settings or Versions, no matter if 1GB or 10GB, PLEX will wait almost exactelly 30 seconds to start playing a Movie.

For me it looks like this is caused by PLEX like a timer for Trailers until a Movie will start. Why else do Series run without a circle?

If I may augment here ?

you’re not showing as a Plex Pass subscriber here in the forums.
Are you certain your Plex Pass is active? (monthly, annual, or lifetime subscriptions)

@ trumpy81 … Thank you for your Support.
I couldn’t test it last Weekend but looking forward to do it this one.
So i will answer until i know more.

@ ChuckPA … Yes Plex Pass is active under my main E-Mail, so all functions are available.
Bevore i bought it, i tried some different Media Servers and already got an Account here, before i decided to go with PLEX.

Thanks for confirming. Some folks forget that they must sign out and back in to activate the Plex Pass (at both forum and server).

Where are the Posts from @trumpy81 gone?
Actually i was trying the hints to solve the issue.

  • PMS Updates, always stopped PMS, updatet and startet it again.
  • If added new Movies, i always optimised the DB and cleaned the packages.
  • Found also Movies with “lavf” which will play normally
  • I don’t have Trailers activated neither a pre-roll.
  • Run DB Repair without any improvements.

Encoded the same Movie as x264 and x265 with Handbreak and same Settings for years.

  • They do have the same Issue, always a lag of 30 seconds.
  • Over the WEB Interface (HW Transcoded by the NAS), they start immediately.
    - Same Files will start playing immediately if i put them in a Fake Serie Episode.

Only thing it won’t work is playing a Movie from the Movie DB over PMP, PLEX or PLEX for Android.

- Create another New Movie DB will result into the same Issue

Mhh, how to find out what PLEX does exactly 30 Seconds before it will start playing a Movie?

Still hope for some hints and the posts from @trumpy81
