Items Falling Off EPG Before DVR Can Record Them

The same thing happens to me with NBC Nightly News. I have it set to record each new episode and the scheduled recording displays it for tomorrow+; but as each day rolls over, it drops from the scheduled recordings and doesn’t even appear on the Watch Now or upcoming shows.

Wow, it looks the entire guide/watch now data just disappears for the time slot 5 - 5:30.

I’m CST & my watch it now guide only has 3 channels out of 14… For my 7:00PM shows.

I’ve switched my EPG to tvguide.com using XMLTV file for now. I can’t tell if this issue is actually a Plex problem or something happening with Gracenote? I only say this as Plex version 1.6.1 has always been rock solid for myself, even through much of the “100% failed recordings” issues as well, but no matter if I run that version or the latest Plex version this EPG issue (if that is the cause?) still seems to occur. Just dropping shows from the schedule randomly. I’m hopeful changing EPG provider may take care of this. I think this was a suggestion from either johnm_ColaSC or AmazingRando24 in a different thread?

@MarkAllen45

How did you make that change? I’ve downloaded XMLTV but I’m not able to get it to do anything . . . I’m googling and hoping to find an answer but nothing yet.

Thanks!

See my post on page 2.

This link will show you how to use ZAP2XML to generate the xmltv.xml file. Once you have that you delete your DVR within Plex and add it again but during the process of adding you can select to change to to your new xmltv file. This link should help you with that. From there you should setup ZAP2XML to have the xmltv file updated every so often as needed.

@MarkAllen45

That’s what I needed and Thanks! I was able to generate the file!

I’ll do the delete and recreate tomorrow and see how it goes!

I really dislike the way Plex shows channels when using xmltv sources like zap2it.
You’ll see what I mean when you set this up.

ugh and I’m about to set it up now . . .

@cayars
I see what you mean . . . it’s picking up the id in the xml file and not matching up

<channel id="I2.732.tvguide.com">
	<display-name>2 KDKA</display-name>
	<display-name>2</display-name>
	<display-name>KDKA</display-name>
</channel>

@MarkAllen45
I’m guessing you manually mapped the channels then?

As it’s not picking up the name but the channel id . . . ugh lol

I posted the same thing happening here, glad to see the conversation picked up with someone else and I’m not alone.

The program guide and recording schedule seem to be at constant odds with each other and I’m missing tons of recordings that just disappear from the lineup.

Another one here with the same issue. A couple weeks ago it was Fox News Sunday at 9AM giving a transcoder error. I changed the start time to 1 minute earlier and it worked fine.

However, today the show in the recording schedule, which was new, simply disappeared and did not get recorded. It does show next week’s as being set to record.

Simply flushing any history of a recording that was supposed to happen gives very little insight into what is going on!

For me at least, all my Plex recording issues revolve around this this show on Sunday morning. All other recordings during the week have been fine for at least 5-6 weeks.

So here I sit watching Plex yet again miss another recording. Was there earlier today and somewhere around two hours before it just dropped. :confused: Now I can’t find it to watch in the Watch Now either. Here are some logs but at this point I been fussing around so much who knows what up…

Knowing what show would be nice. When was it supposed to record would also help.

Sorry, irritated at all these recording issues with Plex as typed that message. The Walking dead at 8pm CST on AMC which is 31 or 862. I have it set for any channel.

I am seeing the following lines in the log:

Ok, suddenly after 10 successful recordings this season Plex or the tuner in the past two weeks has decided that it cannot tune the channel? Which of course using HDHR app in Windows or VLC I can see it can tune it.

My DVR setting has two Quatro tuners set as primary and secondary ID in the database. Those each only have 6 channels mapped to my local stations. And it has a Prime set as tertiary tuner with all my cable stations (about 200).

I noted Walking dead drop off about 6pm CST. At that point is when I started fussing with adding and removing tuners, deleting the DVR and adding it back again, changing guide froom Gracenote to the XML EPG from zap2xml using tvguide.com. Nothing has worked.

Happened again last night.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine was a new episode, but didn’t show up in recording schedule at all. Despite being set to record and top priority.

Again, there is a discrepancy between what’s in the calendar view vs agenda view for the recording schedule.

Agenda view shows that Kevin saves the world is set to record on this coming Tuesday, but the calendar view doesn’t show it at all. So far in my experience this always means it won’t get recorded.

REMOVED COMMENT. Just noticed my dates were off.
