Items Falling Off EPG Before DVR Can Record Them

The same thing happens with a 3rd party EPG provider that is manually updated. I’ve loaded a weeks worth of data with no updates and the shows still drop off the schedule so it’s a code issue not an EPG issue IMHO.

(knocks on wood) I believe that update last night cured this problem, Legends of Tomorrow on CW was not on the DVR until I updated the server and it showed back up

Not for me, the update last night caused this problem for me just now. Show scheduled for 8pm disappeared before it could record. So sick of the instability.

Roseanne dropped off my schedule last night.

… and it was doing so well.

And another “me too”. Jeopardy has been recording very reliably for weeks every night from 7:30 to 8:00. Suddenly last night (4/3) it just disappeared without a trace. No partial recording, no error reports, no longer any sign of it in yesterday’s todo schedule.

Sorry guys, I did knock on wood though

same here for Roseanne, and it has been doing it to Grey’s for weeks. And it has dropped the new Goldbergs episode for tonight!

I did turn off the more frequent EPG refreshes and I have not experienced what you all have said. I have Roseanne and Goldbergs recording and they have not fallen off yet.

Mine has never been on, however I do have the Enhanced Program Guide enabled, if that helps the investigation.

While this might sound stupid, humor me and check.
Make sure you have “Adjust for Daylight Savings Time” enabled (checked) in your operating system on your computer/NAS running Plex. If not enable it and then adjust your clock if need to the correct time.

I can’t help but wonder if the time change on March 11/12th is the cause of this. It’s about the time frame when people started noticing this happening. I can’t help but wonder if parts of the code are using local time while other parts are using universal time and this could cause a one hour difference and maybe cause things do drop off the schedule if they have already passed.

While a long shot it’s certainly worth checking.

Thanks Carlo. I can check that when I get home but if that’s the case would it not affect all shows and times? The issue only happens sometimes.

Who knows? This isn’t happening to everyone, just some people. I just happened to think it was around the time we changed clocks and knowing how programmers can use times in many different ways… It’s possible an internal schedule kicks off at a certain time and if that falls in this one hour gap where the local time is correct but Universal is off due to this setting then it’s quite possible to see something like this happen. One part of the system thinks the recording is upcoming and another part of the code thinks it’s missed the recording so it removes it from the schedule.

I certainly wouldn’t get your hopes up but it’s definitely something worth checking for sure! I’ve certainly seen bazaar things like this before.

I’m just trying to think outside the box,

A worthy suggestion. I’ll check too when I get home. I’ve been running DVR since inception, so I think I’ve crossed DST at least once in the past without issue.

Stranger things have happened… worth a shot.

Double checked, and DST settings are enabled as they should be. Was hoping to find something there.

My NAS time settings are fine, as well. Still missing 7-8pm block shows. Looks like Brooklyn nine-nine is still listed for recording tomorrow, but I’ll bet dollars to donuts it’s not still there tomorrow.

Just adding a “me too” to the list. Been happening for a few weeks. I have tried a bunch of stuff but it almost seems to drop anything between 8 and 9 for me. Weird thing is, on friday night it dropped 2 of the 3 things being recorded between 8 and 9…not all 3 like it normally does.

I’ve seen that issue before. In that case, the items remain in the schedule, and show complete, yet hang for some reason. I had it a while back and was among the lucky that got fixed.

This is a bit different in that things are entirely falling off the schedule at some point and are probably not recording at all. The two items were there earlier in the day… Now they don’t show at all.

EXACTLY what I’ve been reporting here and elsewhere… BTW, when I first noticed this a few weeks ago, I started checking with TitanTV schedule for new vs rerun. The show appears correctly in the Recording Schedule screen as new sometime prior to airing but then never gets recorded and is no longer on the Recording schedule. At one time they tried to explain it as no tuner available but I’ve got 8 tuners and only two “needs in progress”. Plus one of those two was me actually watching the program it wasn’t recording.

Well… It appears Roseanne has fallen off the schedule for tonight. First time I’ve caught it before it airs. Had a feeling about this, so I took a pre-screenshot showing it there earlier today (which is on my work PC… ).

having the same issue, it appears to happen to shows during the first hour of prime time (I’m on the east coast). So all my 8 and 830 shows dropped off. But my other shows are still there.

I removed my DVR and reset it up and those shows are now showing up again.

Looks like a new Plex version 1.12.3.4947 was just released. One of the fixes mentions shows disappearing from the program guide. I wonder if it’s possible this fix addresses the issue.
