The hardest part of my job is to convince System Administrators and System Owners to Enable IPv6 when everyone else is recommending that they should Disable IPv6. Therefore, I have to be willing to take the risk of using IPv6 myself before I can be confidence in asking others to do so.
It’s probably no surprise that after I updated my PMS today, the problem returned. I searched Reddit and saw many people with the same problem but there doesn’t appear to be a single solution that solves everyone’s problem.
I tried turning IPv6 off, rebooting my router, rebooting my PC and nothing worked this time. I used this solution that I found on Reddit were they installed an older version of the PMS. When I installed an older version, the PMS would not stay running so I reinstalled the current version of the PMS and luckily, the problem was gone after reinstalling the PMS update.
Got this today, on a 100% new installation, I can’t add any library. I tried the “Disable ipv6” thing, restarted the server, still no-go.
Getting “Your changes could not be saved.” in the web page.
Getting the following error in the Network tab:
'agent' is missing or invalid
'language' is invalid
new scanner needs to be paired with new agent
even though both are well defined in the query parameters:
name: Movies
type: movie
agent: tv.plex.agents.movie
scanner: Plex Movie
language: en-US
...
This does seem like a server issue… Running on 1.31.1.6716
Please enable server debug logging, stop and restart server, enable debug loggin in the web app as well, reproduce the issue, then fetch logs from both server and web app, please.
(please zip logs before sending)

Installing an Older version of the PMS and then reinstalling the Latest PMS resolved my problem this time but I’m certain that it won’t be long before I will see it again. Perhaps when the PMS is updated again. So far, I’ve only seen the problem on Windows 10. I have not seen it happen on my Linux (Ubuntu) or Windows 11 PC yet.
Just wanted to say I have exactly the same issue.
I’ve tried everything suggested in this post and this other post also:
Nothing appears to work… I just cannot add any media to Plex
@Ralexlaptop, can you confirm where you found older versions of Plex?
@noomski , I had an old copy of the PMS on my NAS. I don’t know if Plex have an archive directory for PMS but if not, I found this link below.
Old Versions of Plex Media Server
Earlier, I indicated that I haven’t seen this problem on my Windows 11 PC. Well that just changed.
This is the strangest problem because I’m not sure if there is any one thing that will work every time or even one thing that will work for everybody. This time when I encountered that problem on my Windows 11 PC, before doing anything drastic, I decided to just try stopping and restarting the Plex Server application and this time (probably not the next time it happens) that was all I had to do to fix it.
Identical behavior here on a brand new install: cannot add any Library at all.
Running 1.31.0.6654 on Windows 10 Pro.
Log shows agent and language invalid, 400 POST, as previously reported.
Plex Media Server v1.31.0.6654-02189b09f - Microsoft PC x64-x64 - build: windows-x86_64 windows
Windows version: 10.0 (Build 19045)
The problem returned on my Windows 10 PC. I rebooted the PC and it did not resolve the problem. After rebooting the PC, I got the message below when I tried to access the user interface the first time.
I then decided to try what worked on my Windows 11 PC. I just stopped and restarted the Plex Server application and to my surprise, it solved the problem again.
I just want to add that I’m experiencing the same exact error running a completely fresh Docker container on Linux. This release seems seems broken. I am currently experimenting with older versions.
EDIT: I tried out version 1.30.2.6563. It works fine for me.
That means PMS is updating your database. Don’t stop PMS when this is happening, it could damage the database. Let it finish.
I uninstalled 1.31.0.6654 and then installed 1.30.2.6563. Everything worked perfect the first time! Thanks for that tip…
Without trying to make a change to my library, I clicked Save Changes just to see what it would do. I got the Your changes could not be saved error on my two Windows 10 PCs.
What worked to correct the problem on both PCs.
- Uninstall PMS
- Reboot PC
- Installed previous PMS version
- Confirmed that Save Changes works
- Updated PMS to current version
I monitored the console during a failed save in my previous post and you see the PUT request and the PUT completed with a 400 completion code.
I monitored the console again during a successful save and there was so much console activity that I had to take two screen shots to capture both the PUT request and the PUT completed.
Does anyone knows how this problem was resolved? I haven’t seen this problem since at least three or four updates back. I was just afraid to post that the problem is fixed and jinx myself.
That was fixed in 1.31.1.
