Language selection changed but ignored

Server Version#: 1.18.2.2058
Player Version#: latest iOS, TVOS, Android version

Since all the 1.18.* versions I have the issue that the spoken language set in the web interface for my different users are simply ignored.
Under 1.16.* that wasn’t the case…
I have all in german but the movies are always started in english.
Several other forum users here seems to have the same issue but it seems that nothing is done about that or am I wrong? I now have done several updates but still nothing is changed about that :frowning:
If not and I can help with something just tell me…
Thanks

Yes, you are not alone with this Problem. But it will still ignored by the Plex Team :man_shrugging:
We have resettet all settings, but the Problem is alive when default Language will be German and the Movie has more than one Language stream.

Hello

Just bought a Plex lifetime pass; and facing the same issue on ipad :frowning:
on iPhone, settings are followed, on ipad mini2/3 ; movies are playing in english all time, with or without the experimental player activate

Any help would be appreciated.

I read that when reverting to 1.16.x server version and than setting the language up and upgrading than again it should work but I won’t take the risk to loose my database or get it corrupted on my NAS.
I have far too many series, movies, photos etc in it…

Interesting, but I fear corrupting everything as well :frowning:

I followed your advice and reverted : uninstall on syno, and then install from package center to get the official Plex Media Server ##### Plex Inc 1.16.5.1552-8e8d0c785 from Syno.

It worked flawlessly; I have the settings properly working on all my user accounts now. And lost nothing in the DB.

The only thing I am affraid of : is moving back to 1.18. So I remain at 1.16 for now till we get a word it’s fixed !

I have the same problem. All my local users need to change the language. This is a recent behaviour. The admin user does not need to change the language. I tried to register a new plex account for one of my local users and invited this account. Same problem. So all local and invited users need to change the language for every movie and episode. :triumph:

Solved:

For me this is not a solution but a workaround…
I hope this issue get solved in one of the future releases…
at least when installing the old 1.16.x version no data is lost and upgrading works…

As I said. I did that without loosing any data as I left the userdata folder untouched while uninstalling, reinstalling and upgrading.

If you fear loosing data: Create a backup

I already did the down/upgrade

Native app (Package Center) uninstall / reinstall on Synology won’t lose data .

It’s always safe.
creating a ZIP , in the Plex share, is an easy backup method.
