Just Updated to the Public Version of PMS
Version 1.11.3.4803 onto my server.
Now this gets confusing here…
On one machine entering my Movie library it says the movie count is 5333.
On another machine, the movie count is 6290.
Where did those extra files come from???
The correct number is 5333, as before the update both Plex Webs reported the same.
The only difference between the two is how I am accessing Plex
The machine with the incorrect (6290) count is logged on thru plex.tv and Plex Web version is 3.37.2.
The machine reporting the correct number (5333) is logged on directly to my PMS IP Addr.
Plex web version there is 3.31.1.
If you let collections display as separate items among your movies, the item count includes those collections.
If it bothers you that much, disable it in the properties of your library, until the bug is fixed. https://support.plex.tv/articles/201273953-collections/
Kinda bizzare that Plex versions don’t match.
What release is this new Plex Web suppose to be in?
How can you keep track of issues if you do not keep the releases in sync??
@OttoKerner I do not see anywhere in libraries to turn off collections…
So my remote clients will see the mess until the bug is fixed??
@OttoKerner
Maybe I have not explained the issue well enough…
Over time PMS has created all these collections and auto naming them with the DVD labels.
Sooo. since movies ALSO show collections, I have all these movie posters with no meta data but the disc text label displaying.
I click on one of them and it’s just a Collection entry. Now some point to movies and some point to NOTHING. If I go to the movie that is suppose to be in the collection, it has NO collection tags.
So, how do I just go in and delete a collection without affecting the movies?
@cayars
I have looked. How do I turn off the Collection feature??
@cayars
I looked there but there is NO setting to turn off Collections.
There is a Tick for using movie database collection info. I do not have that set.
@OttoKerner
That Worked great deleting Collections… Thanks.
However, Wouldn’t be easer or BETTER for the users just to back out the BAD code???
Then Fix, TEST, and release it when it works properly??

It should look just like this. Just select “Disabled”.
Plex posted clear guides for how to use it and even turn off the feature. When you can turn it off if it’s not working as well as you wish it’s not a show stopper. In cases like this it’s sometimes better to just get it out in testers hands to play with to see what other bugs may be present so they too can get fixed quicker.
Yep, not ideal do release it into the public release but sometimes you need to push a release to fix other issue. The latest releases had fixes that were needed by users that couldn’t wait.
Again, if the collections is causing you a problem just turn it off. This gives you the ability to play with it or not be bothered with it. Your choice.
