Latest Windows Desktop Player Not Working (Won't load)

Player Version#: 1.3.1.916

When i start the player I get no launch screen. The plex icon just remains on my task bar with no visible window. In the taskmanager it shows Plex.exe and QtWebEngineProcess.exe with little to no CPU/DISK usages from each one. I tried the earlier version (released before sep 13) but having the same issue. This whole thing was working fine Friday and now all of a sudden nothing is working. Any help would be appreciated.

I have not made any changes to my system other than updating plex (i was prompted to update it today when I went to launch it. I clicked yes when I should have ignored it maybe :slight_smile:

OK so I found a fellow user on reddit who had a similar problem and they recommended to delete the plex folder in the AppData folder. I did that and reinstalled and now it’s working again!

The “delete the \plex folder” technique worked for me once, but then stopped resolving the problem. Plus, it causes any Downloads to disappear.

I found another way to recover that seems pretty reliable:

  1. Mouse over the Plex icon in the taskbar so that the thumbnail with the gear icon appears above it
  2. Right-click somewhere on that thumbnail so that the context menu appears
  3. Choose Maximize. The Plex UI should appear maximized.

I’m having the same issue. A reinstall fixed it for a bit but now it is just frozen white screen where the UI should be.
