Plex app for Windows won't launch

Player Version#: 1.33.0.2444

Hello,

I’m having trouble opening my Plex app on my Windows 10 desktop. Whenever I open it, it won’t launch (no it’s not minimized).

I have tried the exact same thing on my laptop and it works just fine.

I’ve tried reinstalling.
I’ve tried updating windows.
I’ve tried opening as administrator

I do have Qt 6.0.2 installed on this pc and I’ve heard Plex was created with Qt GUI. Although this has probably nothing to do with it I thought I’d mention it.

Still no results. Anyone with ideas?

Thanks

Can you confirm that the app is running in task manager?

Can you share what is under your [ui] key from the player’s plex.ini file? Located here: "C:\Users\DragonStare\AppData\Local\Plex\plex.ini".

Can you share your logs in that same directory as above?

Lastly, close the player, then delete everything under [ui] key from the player’s plex.ini file and see if you can reproduce the issue.

Hello

I fixed the problem yesterday by deleting all Plex files in my AppData and reinstalling everything clean.
Everything works fine now.

The problem might have been what you stated but I didn’t get to try it out as I saw this post a day later.
Thanks for the help anyways!

I have a somewhat similar problem. It started about ~4-5 days ago. When I launch Plex App (Windows 10), it starts but the window is white

I’ve re-installed Plex App a few times but it doesn’t help.

Can you please check the solution and see if that resolves the issue?

Yeah, I did what you recommended but it did not work for me. Meanwhile I had to re-install my Windows since I changed my SSDs and now it works. Thank you for your reply.

I had the same problem and it turns out the Plex Window was “off screen”. Alt-Tab brought up the Restore/Move menu. I selected move, and then used the cursors to move it back “on screen”. From there I maximized the window and all was fine.

You might run into this issue if you add/remove screens frequently.

A faster way would be to use the shortcut to move an app to the next/previous screen.

Shift+Windows+[cursor right/left]

A new test build is available to address the white page upon loading.

I have version 1.35.1 and am experiencing the same issue. I recently went as far as to re-image my computer from a recent image I took before the issue started and it was working again for 3 days or so, but now the white screen is back. I can use the web player, but not the locally installed player. I have deleted everything in C:\Users<user>\AppData\Local\Plex folder (I backed it up first) and re-installed the latest version a few times. I even tried going back to an older version from Sept and one in June, the issue persists.

Thanks, that worked for me.
