This would be welcome news if many of us didn’t use the legacy scanners for the simple fact that the new ones are garbage that put many shows out of order regardless of how many times we select DVD order for shows that air completely out of order. I’ve had issues with both Almost Human and Highlander. Not looking forward to my library being completely jacked again when I “upgrade”.
I’ll provide this as information. The new modern plex agent and scanner uses a consolidated metadata approach. Its one set of metadata and all you can control is the episode ordering.
One of the ways they align the episode ordering is by using the external ids over at tmdb which link episodes to enteries at tvdb. Then when different episode ordering is used (aired, dvd etc…) plex knows which episode is which. TMDB is the default starting point for episode ordering at plex which is why these links are important.
With that in mind I can see Highlander: The Series (TV Series 1992-1998) — The Movie Database (TMDB) is missing external ids linking tmdb and tvdb which could explain why you see problems. I’ll add these over the coming days which then when picked up by plex should (in theory) help with any episode re-ordering which is not the default from tmdb.
Now, for Almost Human I’ve gone and checked these external ids at tmdb and they are ALL present and correct so it should be okay now. Maybe previously when you tested it there was issues which are now resolved. Regardless, if you see problems with that show now please give us details so we can hopefully track it down.
EDIT: For Highlander, I’ve added the external ids for each episode over at tmdb linking it to tvdb. I’ve also added external ids to imdb for each episode. Most where missing but some where incorrect linking to the wrong episodes so these are fixed now. Anyhow, give it 48/72 hours for these changes to creep their way into the plex back-end cache.
Okay, I just updated the scanner and refreshed the metadata for both shows. They seem to be fixed. Thank you. I’m definitely not a fan of having Aired Order for Almost Human since I’m still very salty about why they chose to screw with the order in the first place and my feeling that this was the sole reason the show was cancelled prematurely.
If I see any other issues in the future, I’ll be sure to address them here. As a software developer myself, I should have assumed it would be an easy enough fix. Oh well. Thanks again.
You can actually pick now any order available at TheTVDB, plus the “aired” from TheMovieDB.
