Not only can i NOT launch into the Plex app on my LG TV without internet connection thanks to the stupid initial setup FORCING you to have internet connection.
But if i do setup the plex app with an account via the 4-digit link code, AND i setup a manual server on my local network, it won’t connect to the plex server when i launch the app with no internet connection. It says NETWORK UNAVAILABLE, make sure you are connected to a local network or the internet… WTF!?
some TV apps must have internet because part of the app is hosted on the internet (ie like a website) and/or parts of are downloaded dynamically, probably because either the tv does not allow for sufficient local storage, or some other technical reason.
In some cases, certain apps may require an internet connection to use. Some, like game consoles, rely on the corresponding game service to be available. Others have components of the app itself that have to be loaded dynamically from an internet location. Affected apps:
